Main Event (1,600,000 KRW)

The first of 11 starting flights has concluded here at the Poker Dream Jeju 16 Main Event hosted at Jeju Shinhwa Landing Casino in Jeju Island, South Korea. Day 1a attracted 71 entrants and by the end of the night just 9 players remained.

Changmin Zhu finished with the Day 1a chip lead after bagging 440,000 chips. Zhu is most closely followed by Biao Guo (270,000) while Sun Qi rounds out the top three with 247,000.

Day 1b is currently underway at the time of writing while two more starting flights are scheduled tomorrow. Day 1c starts at 1:00 p.m. local time with a buy-in of KRW 2,400,000 (~1,700 USD) and 40-minute levels. Later that evening at 7:00 p.m. Day 1d takes place, featuring the same structure as Flight A with 30 minute levels and a buy-in of KRW 1,600,000 (~USD 1,100).

Neel Murthy opened to 1,000 from under the gun and picked up three callers including Qi Liu in the big blind.

The flop came 9♠ 5♣ K♥ and action checked around to Murthy who bet 2,200. Only Liu called.

Both players checked the Q♥ turn leading to the J♠ river. Liu bet 3,100 and Murthy called.

Liu had a pair with 6♠ 5♠ but Murthy had him beat with Q♠ Q♣ for a set to take the pot.

Chi Ngong Tang opened to 700 from the button and Qingbo Gao called from the small blind.

The flop came 8♣ 3♥ T♣ and both players checked leading to the A♦ turn. Gao check-called a 500 bet from Tang.

Gao check-called another bet from Tang on the 4♠ river, this time for 2,200. Tang was bluffing with K♥ 5♥ while Gao showed second pair with Q♦ T♦ to win the pot.

Wen Nicholas Michael Ng Yi shoved for 900 from early position, Chung Lam Allan Kong raised to 1,800 from middle position, Xiang Li called from the cutoff and Xinxin Jiang four-bet to 7,200 from the small blind. Kong and Li folded leaving Yi at risk against Jiang.

The 4♣ 6♠ 2♣ Q♦ 3♠ runout gave Jiang a set of queens to win the pot while Yi was sent to the rail.

With two players seeing a board of A♦ 3♠ 8♦ J♣ and 7,700 in the middle Siyoung Lee bet 4,000 from the big blind and Jiaxin Wang called from the button.

On the 6♦ river Lee shoved with a covering stack and Wang, who had 3,400 behind, made the call for his tournament life.

Lee had two pair with A♥ 8♥ but Wang had a flush with T♦ 7♦ to double up through Lee.

Ji Ho Lam opened to 1,000 from the hijack, Chi Ngong Tang three-bet to 2,800 from the small blind and Lam called.

The flop came 4♦ 5♦ 3♠ and Lam called a 2,800 continuation bet from Tang.

Both players checked the 2♥ turn leading to the 3♦ river. Lam shoved for 9,600 when checked to and Tang used two time banks before calling with a covering sstack.

Tang had an overpair with K♣ K♥ but Lam had the wheel straight with A♦ J♣ to score the double up.

Jiahao Tong opened to 600 from the hijack and received calls from Qi Liu on the button, Neel Murthy in the small blind and a player in the big blind.

The flop came 3♣ 6♣ 8♦ and action checked around to Tong who fired a 1,200 continuation bet. Liu called before Murthy check-raised to 4,400. The big blind folded, Tong shoved for 12,000, Liu folded and Murthy folded.

With two players seeing a board of J♣ 3♥ 5♠ and 3,900 in the middle Dong Hou checked from under the gun and Xinxin Jiang bet 3,500 from early position. Hou called and both players checked the 9♠ river.

Hou had top pair with K♥ J♦ but Jiang had an overpair with Q♣ Q♥ to win the pot.

With three players seeing a board of 7♠ A♠ 2♥ and 2,200 in the middle Haoting Liu checked from the big blind and Xi liao bet 800 from under the gun. Chung Lam Allan Kong called from the hijack. Liu check-raised to 3,500 from the big blind and Liao, who had just 2,800 behind, made the call for his tournament life while Kong got out of the way.

Haoting Liu: 2♦ 2♠

Liao was drawing dead by the turn on the 9♦ 4♦ runout. Liu was good at showdown with his set of twos and he took the pot while Liao was eliminated and exited the tournament area.

Siyoung Lee opened to 500 from under the gun and received four callers including Lin Duan in the cutoff and Jiahao Zhang in the big blind.

The flop came 9♦ 6♦ 4♦ and action checked around to Duan who bet 1,100. Only Zhang and Lee called.

Duan continued for 3,500 on the 7♠ turn and this time both remaining opponents folded.

With two players seeing a board of 9♠ 2♥ J♠ and 10,200 in the middle Xi Liao bet 5,000 from the small blind and Chung Lam Allan Kong shoved for 9,100 from the big blind. Liao called with a covering stack.

Xu Jing limped in from early position, Je Hoon Le limped behind from the cutoff, two more players limped from the button and small blind before Chi Ho Yeung checked his option in the big blind.

All five players checked the 2♦ Q♥ 8♥ flop leading to the 4♥ turn. Action checked around yo Yeung who bet 700. Only Jing and Le called.

Yeung bet 2,600 on the 4♠ river and this time only Lee called. Yeung showed two pair with Q♠ J♦ but Lee had the nut-flush with A♥ 6♥ to win the pot.

Wei Lu opened to 300 from under the gun, Xiang Li three-bet to 1,000 from the hijack, Lu clicked it to 1,700 and Li called.

The flop came 7♣ A♦ 3♦ . Lu continued for 2,000 and Li folded.
