Henrik Hecklen Seeks To Win $15,000 NLH Final Amidst Star-Studded Field

52 entries of KRW 21,000,000 (~USD 15,000) built a gargantuan prize pool of KRW 1,016,652,000 (~ USD 771,000). The top 29 players begin the $15 NLH today, but may be joined by some more players before registration closes.
Henrik Hecklen leads the field with a 2,805,000 chip count and is a big favorite to win the event. Hecklen has such as huge chip lead, and as long as he can maintain this and avoid big hits to his stack, then he certainly could have one foot in the door to the championship.
Hecklen has made significant cashes, but according to Hendon Mob, his last first place finish was still in 2022 at a NLHE Super High Roller event during the European Poker Tour London. Certainly, Hecklen is due for one soon, and today may be the day.
The second place in chips is John Juanda, who is more than a million chips behind at 1,610,000. Juanda is trailed closely by Daniel Tang with 1,590,000.
Of course, these two poker stars are not to be taken lightly. Poker legend John Juanda was a big winner last year in Poker Dream 7 Vietnam, winning a NLHE Super High Roller event.
Daniel Tang just recently made a huge second-place cash at the 2024 WSOP in the $50,000 PLO-High Roller. His last first place finish was earlier this year here at Jeju, winning the NLHE-All Star Showdown event of the Asian Poker Tour Jeju.

William Jia Makes a Valiant Third Place Finish
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 50,000/100,000 Ante 100,000
The blind increase was forcing all-in or fold situations between the last three and were exchanging pots until Biao Ding made a push from the button with A♥ 4♥ and William Jia calling from the big blind with K♠ J♣ for a showdown. The board of 9♦ 9♥ T♥ 3♣ 2♣ bagged a win for Biao Ding's ace-high, leaving William Jia out of the tournament at 3rd place for a payout of KRW 17,260,000 (~USD 13,000), which is good for two first class tickets from Jeju to New York.

Jeju Open Final
Blinds 30,000/60,000 Ante 60,000
In a battle of the blinds, Yu Jiapeng pushed all on for his last 70,000 with 5♦ 2♣ and Biao Ding defended at the big blinds with Q♦ 6♠. The 9♠ A♣ 3♥ flop added a possible straight to improve Jiapeng's hand, but the Q♥ on the turn and the 9♦ on the river shut the door to end his tournament life. Biao Ding improves to 1,700,000 while Jiapeng takes a bow at 6th place, winning 6th - KRW 8,270,000 (~USD 6,200), which could be used for a nice weekend vacation at a five-star beach resort.

The Fall and Rise of William Jia
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 25,000/50,000 Ante 50,000
At the end of the break with 6 players remaining, William Jia walked back to his seat as the chip leader with a 1,600,000 stack. Jia's stack took its first big hit against Tianwei Zhang when Jia made a big flop bet, but had to give up the pot when he couldn't call the all-in bet by Zhang on a flop of 2♣ 2♦ 5♦. Tianwei Zhang's stack improved to 1,400,000 while Jia's dwindled to 1,000,000.

WJ William Jia (2)Australia | 910,000 |
William Jia took a gamble with his remaining 180,000 with J♥ 7♠, and was called by Zhu Jingxuan from the big blind with 8♥ 4♥ . The board of 9♠ 6♠ 5♠ T♦ T♥ didn't do anything for anyone, and a Jack-high for Jia was enough to double him up from drowning with 410,000 chips. Zhu Jingxuan felt a little prick when his stack went to 1,240,000.

At the next level with blinds at 30,000/60,000 ante 60,000, William Jia pushed the 410,000 all-in with Q♦ Q♠ and was met by an equally short-stacked Yu Jiapeng, who felt confident making the call with K♦ 9♣. The queens stayed alive with a board of J♥ 2♠ 7♣ 5♣ 4♥ and Jia double up to 910,000. Yu Jiapeng was left with 70,000.

Yu Jiapeng Doubles Through Biao Ding
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 25,000/50,000 Ante 50,000
Biao Ding takes another bad beat. With his kings cracked earlier, Biao Ding suffers another hit. This time his A♣ J♥ falling to the K♠ Q♣ of the short-stacked Yu Jiapeng. Biao Ding was in positive spirits on a flop of 7♥ 9♥ 9♣, but the K♦ on the turn and the 7♠ on the river shattered the dream. Yu Jiapeng doubles to 550,000 while Biao Ding slides down to 950,000 as the bad run continues.

Liew Lee Wee Doubles Through Biao Ding, Cracks Kings
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 20,000/40,000 Ante 40,000
With just a little over 10 big blinds, Liew Lee Wee felt good about his 8♦ 8♠ and shoved his last 520,000 all-in from the button. Biao Ding peeked into a K♦ K♣ and defended his big blind. The board ran T♠ 9♠ 7♠ and added more outs for Wee. The turn 6♥ gave Wee a straight and Biao Ding drawing dead. The 9♣ on the river didn't matter. Liew Lee Wee doubles his stack to 1,100,000 while Biao Ding got dented to 1,200,000 and still slightly ahead of Wee in the count.

Thoo Ming Ken Goes Out At 10th
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 10,000/20,000 Ante 20,000
Thoo Ming Ken looked down at his hole cards and was excited enough to push his last 195,000 from the cutoff with J♣ J♥ . Biao Ding made the call at the small blind, revealing Q♥ Q♦ and bringing disappointment to the spirit of Thoo Ming Ken. Biao Ding's Ladies hold on a board of T♣ K♥ K♠ 5♥ 6♦ and grows his stack to 1,550,000. Thoo Ming Ken takes a payout of KRW 3,100,000 (~USD 2,350) for his 10th place finish, which is a pretty good starting capital for a food truck.

Biao Ding Blasts Into The Millionaire Chip Count
Jeju Open Final
Blinds 8,000/16,000 Ante 16,000
Biao Ding called the all-in of Ding Yangyi for a pre-flop all-in showdown.
Biao Ding: A♣ 7♣
Ding Yangyi: K♥ K♦
Board: A♠ 8♣ 2♠ 7♠ A♥
One ace would've sufficed, but two just adds more conviction. Ding Yangyi made a great push, but the poker gods weren't too kind. Biao Ding's stack rockets to 950,000. Yangyi finishes at 15th overall and earns a payout of KRW 2,440,000 (~USD 1,850), which can buy him a case of sophisticated 18 year old single malts.

In another hand, Sun Jiangfeng made the inital min-raise from the hi-jack, and agreed to the three-bet 80,000 of Biao Ding at the button to see a flop A♣ 4♥ 4♠ . Jiangfeng check-calls the 50,000 bet of Biao Ding to rveal the 5♦ turn. Both players check to reveal the A♠ at the river. Jiangfeng leads out with 94,000, but snap folds when Biao Ding pushes all-in.
Biao Ding pushes his stack past the million mark with 1,100,000 in chips. Sun Jianfeng is depleted to 275,000.
