Poker Strategy From Biao Ding
Biao Ding is known as a high-roller, so he was asked why he played a smaller buy-in event.
Biao Ding - I busted yesterday in 10k NLH, only one tournament left so I play. I play 4 bullets in 10k and this tournament 8 or 9 bullet. I all-in without looking. When I double up I play. Yes, I will play high rollers.
Don't we just wish we had that kind of bankroll to go all-in without looking.

Blinds 8,000/16,000 Ante 16,000

The flop came 7♥ 10s 3♥ giving Wong Ka Fai the lead with a pair of tens. But then, the turn 8♠ and river 8♦ gave a runner-runner set to Zhi Jingxuan, busting out Wong Ka Fai on the bubble and sending the 12 survivors through to the Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final tomorrow.

More Flipouts at Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) 1D

Per Flipout:

Flipouts are fun. No-need for serious poker faces. Just a capable mind of deciding on the two best cards and let fate decide the rest. More flipouts were played for a chance to enter the Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) Final to be played tomorrow.
Nicholas Michael won a flipout and takes 265,000 in chips going into Day 2.
Chua Chen Shen had a more interesting path, splitting the first flipout with Yu Ziangyu to go into sudden death overtime. Chea Chen Shen eventually prevailed the second time around to earn his 265,000 chips for Day 2.
Victor Chong Is The Bubble Boy!
Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) 1B
Blinds 4,000/8,000 Ante 8,000
With the bubble at stake and action folding to the two blinds, Zhang Hongru applied the pressure with an all-in raise with J♠ 2♠ and Victor Chong immediately making the call for all his 90,000 with A♣ A♠ . Hongru made a mental face palm while Chong beamed at the thought of doubling up. The flop came J♦ 9♦ 9♥ which improved Hongru's hand, but not enough for Chong to press the panic button. The turn J♥ turned all that around quickly, and the river 4♦ made it too late to panic. The poker gods and their sick sense of humor give Zhang Hongru the win and crack the aces of Victor Chong at the bubble of all times.

Pham Bao: A♣ K♦
Devan Tang: Q♣ Q♠
In a classic toin-coss battle of Big Slick vs Queens, this round went to Big Slick with a board of J♥ 7♥ 2♥ A♠ 2♣ sealing the win for Pham Bao and taking out Devan Tang just one shy of the bubble.

Quick Question! Pockets 8s or 9-10 Suited?
Here are some answers:
Nicholas Michael - 9-10 suited for sure. If I play 9-10 suited I think it has more outs. If many people are playing, I think 9-10 suited is even better because everybody else is tight and myself play very loose. Everyone else play with super tight range, play nicer hands. Pocket 8's is mid unless you hit set on the flop, or turn, or in the river. If I have 8's and someone shoves, I fold. But if someone all-in and I have 9-10 suited, I may call. I have more chances of calling pre-flop all-in with 9-10 suited than pocket 8's.
Thoo Ming Ken - I don’t like 8's, I like 9-10 suited. Chinese people like number 8 because it brings prosper, I’m the opposite. I hate 8's, my worst hand. It’s more fun to play suited. You can hit royal flush. Pocket 8's you cannot hit royal flush, maybe quads max.
Thoo Ming Ken just placed 10th at the Jeju Open Final here at Poker Dream 12 Jeju 2024.

The Fall and Rise of William Jia

Blinds 25,000/50,000 Ante 50,000
At the end of the break with 6 players remaining, William Jia walked back to his seat as the chip leader with a 1,600,000 stack. Jia's stack took its first big hit against Tianwei Zhang when Jia made a big flop bet, but had to give up the pot when he couldn't call the all-in bet by Zhang on a flop of 2♣ 2♦ 5♦. The same thing happened to Nie Yizhou, whose Pocket Tens were outdrawn by the A♣ 6♣ of Zhu Jingxuan. An A♠ appeared on the flop and a 6♥ on the turn gave two pair for added protection. Zhu Jingxuan builds his stack to 1,450,000. Nie Yizhou claims KRW 6,070,000 (~USD 4,600) from his share of the prize pool, enough to buy a decent second-hand European car like a 1999 BMW 740.

Quick Question! Pocket 8s or 9-10 suited?
We asked three players the question. Their answers:
Andrei Budykin - Ofcourse 910s. It's my favorite hand. I won a lot of pots with 9d10d so it's my favorite hand.
With over USD 60,000 in live cash earnings, Andrei Budykin may just have something there with his favorite hand. Budykin has been traveling throughout Asia this 2024 for a lot of poker - Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines - and now here in Jeju, Korea. His name popped up in several payout lists everywhere he went, and he will certainly want to add his name to the payout list here at Poker Dream 12 Jeju 2024.
Wang Feidu - Of course pocket 8♠. You have a big hand and you can do everything you want.
Wang Zhiyi - I think pocket 8♠ because its better and stronger to play than 9-10s.

Jeju Open Final
Biao Ding is the big chip leader among the last 39 players competing in the Jeju Open Final. It is no surprise that this poker legend should be up there on the top. Biao Ding's poker portfolio brings a long list of accolades that records over USD 11 Million in live cash earnings. His biggest wins came at the recent Triton Poker Super High Roller Series held also here in Jeju last March 2024. Biao Ding scored his biggest cash at over USD 2.8 Million at the $150,000 NLHE - 8 Handed event, where he placed second. He was also crowned the champion of the $50,000 Pot Limit Omaha - 6 Handed event, winning a cool USD 1.1 Million.
Biao Ding can be expected to be at the payout list of several events here at Poker Dream 12 Jeju 2024. Maybe even bag a couple of championship trophies along the way.
Right now, he's already in the money at the Jeju Open Final. It's just a matter of how high he can go.

The first flight of the Deepstack (KRW 100M GTD) had a late start. The tournament needed 15 players to officially start. And so, after a bit of a wait - 15 players have finally got the tournament going.
Some of those getting an early start at the felt are Wang Fei, who made several cashes in the Asian Poker Tour Jeju a few months back, and will look to use that familiarity to gain some success.
Spanish poker pro Santiago Soriano Ramos is looking to make a significant payout to finally cross the USD 1 Million in career live cash earnings.
Liu Tian had some small ITM cashes at Poker Dream Malaysia last month and seeks to do better here at Jeju.
The survivors of all the flights played today will advance to the Day 2 Final where they will form one last flight to compete for higher payouts up the ladder and the Poker Dream champion's trophy..
