Action-Packed Day 1B: Kuo Chen Hung Tops Leaderboard as Zhang Falls on the Bubble

Riding the electrifying energy from the marquee KPC x LPT Main Event at KPC x LPT Series 2026, Day 1B has come to a spectacular close inside Les A Casino. The second opening flight drew a 322-entry field after today's action-packed play. Together with 136 entries from Flight C, it brought the total turnout to 839 entries across three opening flights so far, and it is expected to continue growing beyond expectations, with Flights D, E, and F still open for poker aficionados.

Fueled by ambition and resolve, the KRW 880M guarantee was shattered with ease on just the second day of play in the KPC x LPT Main Event. The prize pool currently stands at KRW 942,364,800 (~USD 651,204), drawing in new challengers and encouraging fallen elites to return in search of redemption.

After over 12 hours of intense play in Day 1B, 49 contenders managed to make the money, with just 41 survivors securing a spot in Day 2. Leading the charge on Day 1B is Taiwan’s Kuo Chen Hung with a commanding stack of 935,000 chips. Hung climbed to the top of the leaderboard after eliminating Yankai Zhang in 42nd place late in the day, putting a strong finish on his session and setting himself up well for Day 2.

Close behind is China’s Zengxiang Chen, who also put an impressive run to bag 788,000 chips. Chen stayed consistent throughout the day and quietly built his stack, finishing comfortably inside the top group of chip leaders heading into the next stage.

Rounding out the top three is Chen’s countryman Ben Fan with 592,000 chips. Fan remained steady in the later levels and pulled off a crucial double-up late in the night against Haoshan Huang, hitting a rivered full house to crack Huang’s bluff. That key hand allowed Fan to carry a healthy stack forward as the field moves into Day 2.

Day 1B Highlights

The day nearly ended on the stone bubble when Zengxiang Chen was forced all-in from the big blind, having dwindled down to a mere 6,000 chips. Kyun Min Lee made the call and appeared to be the overwhelming favorite to burst the bubble and send the field into the money, holding A♥ J♥ against Chen’s Q♥ 4♠.

The Poker Gods had other plans, however, as a miracle four landed on the flop. Chen’s pair held up against Lee’s flush draw and overcards, securing a vital double-up that allowed him to navigate his way into the money shortly after.

Chean Shih

When play resumed, unlike Chen, it was Chean Shih who eventually burst the bubble. Shih committed his last four yellow chips with ace-deuce, running headfirst into Xiaotong Yu's pocket queens. The board favored Yu with another queen, cracking Shih's ace-high and sending him to the rail with the most unwanted title. Shih's exit guarantees a minimum payout of KRW 2,000,000 (~USD 1,381) for the remaining 49 players.

The one falling one spot shy of Day 2 is Zhang, who called off his short stack on the river against Hung's covering-stack shove. Unfortunately for Zhang, his ace-eight found no help on the board, while Hung flopped two pair with ace-queen, sending Zhang out in 42nd place and locking one seat for the remaining 41 players.

Zhang Eliminated on the Day 2 Bubble; Hung Takes the Lead

After a double-up at another table, the action shifted to Table 3, where Kuo Chen Hung moved all in with a covering stack against Yankai Zhang. With only 41 spots available for Day 2, the fate of the remaining field rested on this showdown.

The board was already spread 2♥ 6♥ 5♣ Q♦ A♠, and the floor instructed both players to reveal their cards:

Hung’s top two pair bested Zhang’s top pair and missed flush draw, officially bursting the Day 2 bubble. The remaining 41 players can now bag up their chips and prepare for Saturday’s restart, having also secured a healthy pay jump in the process. With that final elimination, Hung also vaults into the chip lead to end the flight.

Chean Shih slid his last 4,000 from middle position, and Xiaotong Yu raised the button to 20,000. After the blinds folded, Shih was left at risk against Yu on the stone bubble time.

Zhang then sent a small bet of 5,000 on the 5♥ turn, only to face a shove for 45,500. Zhang snap-folded.

Xiao led for a further 6,500 once the 2♥ 3♥ J♣ flop hit the felt, which received a call.

He then slowed down with a check on the 7♥ turn; Lin took control and slid out 20,000. Xiao didn't take too long before electing to fold.

In the second hand, big blind Xiao called hijack Wang Lu's 6,000 raise, before both players opted to check through the entire 3♣ 5♠ 7♠ 9♥ 2♣ runout. The Chase Continues: Main Event Day 1B Gets Underway

Advancing to the Day 5 schedule at the KPT x LPT Series 2026 at the grandest venue, Les A Casino, the spotlight is on the KPC x LPT Main Event Day 1B. Being the most anticipated prime event, it offers a whopping KRW 880M (~USD 608,285,392) guaranteed prize pool for poker pros and aficionados to battle for.

After the tense competition yesterday in Flight A, the prestigious event has drawn a 380-entry field, with just 48 survivors advancing to Day 2. Leading the pack is China's Chuntao Zhou with a dominant stack of 685,000.

Chasing close behind Zhou are two heavy names: Quan Zhou, who has also amassed a hefty stack of 582,000, sitting firmly in second on the leaderboard. With over $14M in total live earnings, Zhou is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Rounding out the top three is the representative from Japan, Ryuta Nakai, with 576,000 in chips. Nakai is also a formidable opponent with over $2M in total live earnings.

Today, following the same structure, Day 1B action kicks off at 12:00 local time, opening more chances for fallen pros looking for redemption. To reciprocate players, the multiple qualifiers will also receive an extra bonus with a maximum of KRW 22M up for grabs, motivating Day 1 survivors to return to the field and put their skills to the test.

Late registration closes at the beginning of Level 10, offering plenty of time for hopefuls to jump into the event. Players will navigate through ten 40-minute levels with a starting stack of 30,000 in the hopes of joining the 48 advancers from Flight A. A 15-minute break is scheduled after every three levels, and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9.
