Boasting a massive KRW 2,280,100,000 (USD 1,564,570) prize pool, the joint KPC x LPT Main Event has officially set a high bar for the new year in Jeju. From a total of 2,030 entries across six opening flights, with Flight 1d proving to be the most popular with 499 entrants, the field has been whittled down significantly.

From the 224 hopefuls who returned for Day 2 this morning, only 25 players have successfully navigated the tough field to secure a seat for tomorrow's final day. Leading the charge is Taiwan’s Huanyu Chen, who has utilised an aggressive style into a commanding chip lead, boasting 4,825,000 heading into the finale.

Chen is no stranger to success in the region, having previously triumphed in the WPT Prime Taiwan Deepstack NLH in August 2025. With over USD 113,000 in live tournament earnings recorded on his Hendon Mob profile, Chen's experience in closing out major events will be a significant asset as the pressure builds tomorrow.

Whilst it's tough to say if there was a definitive moment that fuelled Chen's ascent today, he did start building early, with a significant hand that set the tone for his run. Chen built his stack early when his ace-queen flopped trips against Kanwen Du's pocket kings, resulting in a massive knockout and a chip boost that he never looked back from.

Taking second place and hot on Chen's heels is Quan Zhou, who finished the night with a formidable 4,445,000. Zhou, a titan of the Asian poker scene and a regular at high-stakes tables globally, has already surpassed USD 10,000,000 in career earnings. With a history of strong results in Jeju, including multiple final tables at previous Triton and APPT stops, his presence near the top of the counts will undoubtedly weigh on the rest of the field tomorrow.

Rounding out the top three is Hui Liu, who bagged up 3,450,000. Liu proved throughout the day that he has no problem making tough calls, most notably when he sniffed out a 325,000-chip river bluff from Peng Deng to scoop a massive pot without even having to show his hand. This steady performance has kept him well within striking distance of the lead as the field thins.

While the day was filled with standard tournament progression rather than a frantic bubble, the action remained steady as several prominent names positioned themselves for a run at the title.

The day featured a range of collisions, from standard flips to battles between major stacks. One of the most talked-about moments involved Yiming Li, who managed the rare feat of turning a Royal Flush. Despite holding the absolute best hand possible, the action was cut short when his turn bet forced a quick fold from his opponent, leaving Li with the pot but without the massive payday he had hoped for. Haozhao Wang was sent to the rail early after his king-jack failed to overcome an ace-high dominating hand. Later in the evening, Haiwei Liang saw his tournament end in a massive pot when his pocket queens ran directly into pocket aces.

A special honourable mention goes to the UK’s Ryan Plant, who bagged a healthy 2,100,000 for 12th in the counts. Plant showed remarkable endurance, having only finished his previous session late last night in the Single Day High Roller. He navigated a 124 entry field in that event to finish as the runner-up to Liao Cheng, banking KRW 46,450,000 (USD 32,125) before jumping straight into today's Main Event action.
