Nicholas Go min-raised from under the gun before Soma Ishikawa three-bet jammed his 200,000 stack from the hijack. When the action got back to Go, he picked up his cards as if he were going to fold, fiddled with them for a moment, stared down Ishikawa, then stood up and slammed in the call.

Go was in rough shape against Ishikawa’s ace-jack. Both players stood to watch the flop of Q♦ 4♠ 7♣ fall, which kept Ishikawa’s ace-high ahead.

The 2♠ on the turn changed nothing, leaving Go needing a king on the river to end Ishikawa’s Main Event run. Amazingly that’s exactly what he found when the K♠ spiked on the river. Go erupted in celebration, throwing his hands in the air as he took down the pot with top pair, sending Ishikawa to the rail.

Supakit Anukoolpitaknik shoved from under the gun for 41,000 before Nicholas Go three-bet to 90,000 from the cutoff. Next to act was John Tech on the button, who decided to cold four-bet to 235,000 with 350,000 behind. The blinds folded, and Go quickly put in the call to see a flop.

With Anukoolpitaknik all-in, the dealer spread out a flop of A♥ 4♣ 9♠ , prompting two checks from Go and Tech. A board-pairing A♦ hit the turn and Go led out with a bet of 50,000. Tech did some inventory and then put in the call.

A 3♥ landed on the river and Go bet 50,000 again. Tech raised to 170,000 and Go quickly made the call.

John Matsuda Eying on Glory as Day 3 Fires Off in Historic APT Main Event

With the new benchmark TWD 55,000 Main Event in full swing at APT Taipei 2025, a starting gun fires at 11:15 a.m. local time for Day 3 at the Red Point Center’s Red Space. 375 survivors are at their marks and all eager to etch their names in this history-making tournament, which garnered a record-shattering 2,547 entries and easily eclipsed the previous all-time mark in APT history.

After a gruelling Day 2, each standout contenders is guaranteed a minimum cash of TWD 85,000 (~USD 2,620). With the staggering turnout, the confirmed prize pool has been ballooned to TWD 121,033,440 (~USD 3,735,600), with a jaw-dropping TWD 19,009,440 (~USD586,710) set aside for the eventual champion.

Meanwhile, the top three finishers won’t just claim a hefty share of the prize pool. They will also lock up an APTC Main Event Seat, equating to TWD 350,000! To add to the excitement, a lucky draw for another seat will take place as soon as the action kicks off in Day 3.

His expressive presence during pivotal hands seemingly attracted the poker goddess Fortuna to his side heading into Day 3.
