APPT Manila Championship 2024: Daniel Neilson tops APPT Super High Roller Day 1; Six more PokerStars trophies lifted
Halfway through its ten-day schedule, the APPT Manila Championship 2024 games continue to run its course with 17 spadies out of its 47 trophy lineup already awarded. Six side events played to completion over the past two days and saw newly minted winners Thomas Ward, Seiji Hamajima, Seigi Imai, Vincent Wong, Min Ho Cho, and Sungmin Jung, secure worthy top payouts.
Another series highlight landed on the felt with the APPT Super High Roller in action. Schedule changes have been made to accommodate more players, with registration remaining open before the start of Day 2 Final, October 23rd, 14:00.

Nine survive APPT Super High Roller Day 1
One of the most expensive buy-ins on the list, APPT Super High Roller Day 1 drew in a modest field of only 13 entries across ten levels of play. Registration was set to initially close before the start of Level 10 yet was adjusted to continue through the next day, October 23rd. Australia’s Daniel Neilson capped the day with the lead, stacking 627,000 in chips, over double the 250,000 starting stack. Eight more runners survived the Day 1 rounds with Chin Wei Lim, Joseph Cheong, and Marc Rivera, moving forward just over the 400K mark.

Thomas Ward takes down Mini High Roller
Commanding the heftiest buy-in across the APPT Manila Championship Day four lineup, the Mini High Roller event crowned Thomas Ward the victory following 21 levels of play. Seven players banked a share of the PHP 6,960,720 (~USD 120,750) pot, with Ward taking the largest cut at PHP 2,260,000 (~USD 38,420). No heads up play ensued as the final two decided on a flip for the title, earning runner up Mike Takayama the lesser PHP 1,495,000 (~USD 25,415) payout.

Seiji Hamajima awarded victory at Survivor Knockout [₱30K Bounty]
Following a twelve hour grind, Japan’s Seiji Hamajima was crowned the Survivor Knockout [₱30K Bounty] champion, having evenly chopped the top two prizes with Kang Fang Lien. Both players shared an equal payout of PHP 242,500 (~USD 4,200), along with four bounties worth an additional PHP 120,000 (~USD 2,080) to bring their total winnings to PHP 362,500 (~USD 6,160). Hamajima was awarded the win, taking with him his career first spadie from the day’s games.

Seigi Imai bests Megastack
The first side event on schedule across Day five, Megastack saw a total of 135 entries pile in with 17 players claiming a share of the PHP 1,728,540 (~USD 29,985) prize pool. It took nearly fifteen hours on the floor before action closed with Japan’s Seigi Imai shining through. Imai finished off local runner John Jay Magadan for the title, earning PHP 401,000 (~USD 6,810) in winnings, along with an APPT Championship entry valued at PHP 165,000 (~USD 2,850).
