The initial heat of this season's WPT Cambodia Mini Championship games has drawn to a close with its 259-entry field narrowed down to 33 players remaining. It took eighteen levels of 30 minute gameplay before the dust settled, with Japan's Suguru Sawada stacking atop the charts. Sawada finished the day with a bag of 959,000 (80 BB), having gained the advantage late in the evening along with the bubble elimination to close the day in style.

Canada's Andrew Lunde stacks below Sawada yet at quite a distance with 721,000 (60 BB), after a thrilling triple knockout during the final hour of play saw the chips swing his way. Three more players - Ahmed Abdellatif, Francesco Vasquez, and Alfie Adam, follow in rank, all of which will kick off the Day 2 rounds with healthy stacks above the 600K mark.

Action will continue tomorrow at 11:30 local time with all returning players guaranteed a share of the $442,320 prize pool.

Suguru Sawada opened 27,000 utg and saw Yamen Ghanem call for his last 19,000 (1.5 BB) on the cutoff.

Ghanem hoping to hang on, unfortunately exited as the day's bubble after Sawada flopped a pair on board 3♠ 2♠ 5♦ 8♥ 3♦ to take the win.

Mini Championship Day 1A is one more elimination away from wrapping up with the tournament clock on pause to make way for bubble time. Only 33 players will find a bag by night's end and return to the felt for tomorrow's battle.

Zhiqiang Meng opened mid position and called off for his last 185,000 (15 BB) after Ilia Barkov moved all-in on the small blind.

Meng at risk, quickly spiked the advantage on board A♣ 2♣ Q♣ 2♥ , up until the river landed 4♠ , turning the tables in Barkov's favor.

The day's action is nearing ITM with only three more eliminations to go before the flight wraps up. 33 players are guaranteed a spot into the Final Day games, as well as a portion of the prize pool.

Top Chip Counts

Both Fabian Rolli and Amir Abbas couldn't wait to get their stacks in the middle and found both table the best hand in the deck at showdown.

While mostly a chop, Abbas was in luck this time as board 3♦ J♠ J♦ K♦ 6♦ rolled four diamonds, landing him a flush to send the other pair of aces flying towards the muck.

Yamen Ghanem fired a 60,000 three bet on the button against a late position open and saw Dragoljub Martinovic stuff his entire 277,500 on the small blind. Ghanem put in the call with Ax Kx and was in for a flip against Martinovic's 4♦ 4♣ for a 58 big blind pot.

Board 6♦ J♦ T♣ T♥ 2♣ missed to connect with Ghanem's overcards, shipping Martinovic the huge double up.

Shahin Norouzian opened 30,000 on the hijack, which was left unnoticed by Armon Van Wijk on the small blind. Van Wijk raised all-in 180,000 in an attempt to go head to head with the big blind, but instead was called down by Norouzian.

“Oh no. I didn’t see that”, said Van Wijk but was entirely too late as the runout 7♦ 5♦ 2♥ T♠ T♣ had already sealed his fate.

Up against a late position open and a call, Remy Murcia on the button, stuffed his 167,000 (17 BB) stack in and was challenged by initial raiser Ahmed Abdellatif.

Murcia dominated, avoided elimination as board T♦ 8♠ 7♥ 9♦ 3♣ landed both players a jack-high straight for a split pot.

“Okay I'll take that. I'm not greedy”, commented Murcia following the runout.

A four way all-in situation saw Andrew Lunde cover all three opponents' stacks - Najeem Ajez (76,000), Lars Kamphues (101,500), and Kornkrit Chaveewanitkun (128,500).

Fabrice Giz open jammed 138,000 (14 BB) utg and saw Ahmed Abdellatif behind reshove to isolate. All else folded, leaving the two to showdown.

Amir Abbas opened early position and saw Nadav Cohen right beside push for 107,500. Abbas called off, and forked over a third of his stack after Cohen's pocket aces had no problems winning on board T♥ 4♣ 7♥ J♠ 5♣ .

Najeem Ajez sent out a three bet on the button and saw Andrew Lunde pad it further to 130,000 on the small blind. Ajez completed and snap called the rest on flop J♠ Q♦ 5♦ after Lunde led all-in.

Shahin Norouzian opened utg and called a 42,000 three bet from Jakkapong Sreprasom a seat after.

On flop T♣ Q♠ 4♦ , Norouzian snap called Srepasom's all-in for 61,000 with midpair T♠ 9♠ , putting his opponent at risk. Srepasom behind with A♦ K♦ , failed to catch up on either turn 5♦ or river T♥ , busting him in the process.

Vadzim Lipauka opened utg+1 and snap called Nageshwara Alaparthy's 78,000 (10 BB) all-in on the big blind.

Lipauka a huge favorite, delivered the elimination with no sweat as board Q♦ A♦ 9♣ 5♥ 5♣ kept his tens well ahead.

Ahmed Abdellatif opened utg+1 and called a 44,000 three bet from Daisuke Abiko behind.

Action on flop Q♥ 9♥ T♦ checked round to turn 4♦ , where Abdellatif went ahead and led for 65,000. Abiko failed to continue, shipping Abdellatif the pot right then and there.

Yongjia Lin defended his big blind against Robert Kiss's 18,000 button open, and went to battle on flop K♥ K♦ 3♥ . Action checked round to turn 2♠ , where Lin led 22,000. Kiss put in the call and arrived at showdown shortly after no more bets went in on river 9♦ .

Lin showed busted draw 8♥ 6♥ , shippng the win to Kiss for his ace high A♥ T♣ .

Facing a late position open and a call, Nadav Cohen pushed all-in on the small blind for 49,000 and faced initial raiser Alfie Adam for a showdown.

Cohen dominated, was spared from elimination as board K♦ 9♦ 6♦ Q♦ 4♦ ran a flush on board for a split pot.

Yongjia Lin opened on the hijack, called by Yunkyu Song on the small blind. Akhilendra Singh on the big blind bumped it up to 36,000, and saw Lin complete and Song call all-in for his last 3,000.

The flop came A♦ 6♠ 6♦ , where Singh checked and Lin bet 18,000. Singh then raised to 45,000, with Lin calling onto turn 8♠ .

Both players checked it through to river Q♥ , where Lin gunned all-in for 237,000. Singh went deep into the tank but eventually laid it down after time was called, avoiding a potentially major loss.

Lin revealed quad sixes 6♥ 6♣ and left Song's A♠ 7♦ utterly crushed.

Hao Wu opened utg+1 and was met with a 38,000 three bet from Remy Murcia on the small blind. Wu responded with an all-in and left Murcia in quick surrender.

Joachim Larsen open shoved his 57,500 (10 BB) stack on the cutoff and saw Shiina Okamoto on the small blind, rise to the challenge.

Larsen slightly behind, caught up on board 2♣ T♠ 3♦ 9♥ K♥ , keeping him in the Mini Championship Day 1A games.

A blind vs blind clash saw Daniel Lengyel in trouble with A♣ 7♣ for his remaining 97,500 against Suguru Sawada's A♦ Q♦ .

Window card 7♠ offered Lengyel some hope, which quickly faded as board continued 4♠ Q♠ 6♣ 9♠ , awarding Sawada the win with top pair.

Another coinflip situation was seen on Table 34 with Nazar Buhaiov at risk for his last 90,000 (15 BB) against Chak Hei Chan.

Buhaiov's pocket pair held strong all the way through board Q♠ A♣ 8♥ 7♦ K♣ , earning him more room to maneuver with the newly acquired chips.

Remy Murcia stuffed his last 89,500 (18 BB) against a late position open and saw Jerome Finck take the spot right behind.

Murcia at risk, quickly landed the advantage on board 6♦ 7♦ K♠ Q♥ 4♣ , shipping him the boost while Finck dropped down to six big blinds.

Mateusz Stanielewicz opened 11,000 on the hijack, raised by Shiina Okamoto behind to 26,000. Robert Kiss on the button, stuffed his 55,500 short stack in and saw Stanielewicz reshove to isolate. Okamoto opted out, leaving the two to showdown.

Kiss in search of an ace, found one on board 8♦ T♥ 3♠ A♦ 2♦ , enough to escape elimination and rake in the boost.

David Kozma opened on the cutoff and called a 34,000 three bet from Victor Fryda on the big blind.

On flop 2♠ Q♣ 5♣ , Fryda continued for 18,000 and followed with another 26,000 on turn 7♠ . Kozma tank raised all-in by the second barrel for 93,500 and was snap called by his opponent with an overpair.

Nevan Chang opened early position and was met with two all-ins - Foo Long (54,500) and Ricardas Lukauskas (145,000). Chang put in the final call, making it a three way showdown.

Window card straight away showed a J♥ , with the runout completing Q♥ 4♣ 2♥ 3♣ to turn the tables in Chang's favor and deliver the double bust shortly after.

A blind vs blind battle between Patrik Demus and Fabrice Giz brewed a pot of 51,000 on board A♥ 5♣ 3♥ 9♥ Q♥ .

On the river, Demus was put in a tough spot after Giz barreled a final 35,000. Demus eventually found the call, only to muck as Giz turned over flush J♥ T♦ .

An all-in preflop situation saw Upeshka De Silva at risk for his last 66,500 up against Pablo Garcia for a flip.

Board 3♠ 7♥ 8♣ 4♠ K♥ immediately landed De Silva a set, earning him the double up while Garcia was left with a five big blind stack and out right on the next hand.

Suguru Sawada pushed all-in on the button with A♠ J♦ against Yongjia Lin's late position open and was crushed to see his opponent snap call with A♥ A♣ .

Lucky for Sawada, the board K♣ 7♣ 7♥ 7♦ 7♠ rolled quad sevens, leaving both ace-highs with the win for a split pot.

Harsh Bubna opened early position and called off for his entire 51,000 (13 BB) stack after David Kozma raised all-in.

Bubna in rough shape, headed for the rails shortly after board 3♠ 9♠ 6♦ 3♣ 5♥ rolled on the felt.

Amir Abbas opened utg, called by Shiina Okamoto behind. Rui Carvalho on the cutoff, sent out a three bet to 28,000 and saw only Abbas complete.

On flop K♠ K♣. T♠ , Abbas check called another 18,000, revealing turn J♥ . Both checked it through to river Q♠ , where Abbas just went ahead and led all-in. Carvalho snap called for his remaining 140,000 with a full house K♦ Q♣ , only to give up his seat as Abbas showed royal flush A♠ J♠ .

Joshua McCully open shoved 49,500 (12 BB) utg and was looked up by Simas Karaliunas right on the big blind.

Another coinflip situation, the overcards had it once more on board A♣ J♠ 5♦ 3♦ K♣ , eliminating McCully from the Mini Championship qualifier.

Up against an open and a call, Kyle Bao Diep squeezed all-in on the button for 107,000 and was looked up by initial raiser Vitto Jeevanji.

Vying for a 31,000 pot in the middle across board T♠ 3♥ Q♥ 9♦ 5♣ , Victor Fryda made a go for it with a bet of 15,500. Timon Prill stopped him in his tracks with a raise to 40,000. Fryda took a minute and eventually found the fold, giving up the pot to his opponent.

Abhinav Iyer defended his big blind against Keisuke Tajiri's 3,500 button open, and check called another 2,500 on flop Q♣ 9♣ 7♣ . Both checked turn K♣ through to river 3♦ , where Iyer led 15,000. Tajiri this time, opted out, earning Iyer a boost back up to starting.

Facing an open and two calls, Kiwamu Watabe squeezed all-in on the small blind for 53,400. Eric Yaputra was up to the challenge, risking majority of his stack with his suited broadways.

While a bold move, Yaputra slipped down the ranks as board K♥ 3♥ 9♣ A♣ 4♦ awarded Watabe the win with a pair of aces.

With 43,000 in the pot across board J♣ 9♣ 2♥ 2♦ T♦ , action saw Vishal Ojha lodge a blocker bet of 4,500 on the river. Dinesh Alt on the button, bumped up the stakes to 35,000 and collected the pot with J♠ J♥ after Ojha paid the price.

A button vs big blind back and forth set 20,500 in the middle right before flop 8♠ 4♣ T♥ landed on the felt. Action checked to Joseph Serock, leading him to bet 5,300. Issam Fayad check raised to 15,500, enough to convince Serock to lay it down.

A preflop back and forth saw Erik Rozhynskyi four bet jam his remaining 23,700 against Takashi Yagira's raise behind. Yagira called off and chopped it up as Rozhynski tabled the same hand.

George Tomescu sent out a 12,000 button three bet against a mid open and saw Aliaksei Chernak behind, raise all-in. Tomescu called off for his remaining 35,100 and was in for a flip for an 82 BB pot.

A preflop back and forth saw Vishal Ojha commit his entire 51,100 with 5♥ 5♣ , only to be in trouble against Maxim Gololobov's T♦ T♣ .

Lucky for Ojha, his two outer came right on time on board 6♠ 6♥ K♥ 5♦ 9♥ , sparing him from elimination.

Andres Vasquez flicked in his last big blind, raised by Dang Thi Hue to 3,000. Noppon Taengruen fired a three bet to 9,500, and called for his remaining 39,700 after Dang answered with an all-in.

With two aces already showing, another fell on board A♥ 3♥ 9♦ 2♠ , leaving Taengruen drawing slim. The river J♣ however, spiked the Thai's one of two outs, earning him the sweet boost while Vasquez headed for the rails.

Dinesh Alt opened on the cutoff and saw both players on the blinds come along on flop T♠ 9♠ 5♦ .

Yuya Tada on the small blind, led out a bet of 3,000, called by Alt to see turn 5♣ . Both checked it through to river 7♠ , where Tada went for a final 6,500. Alt paid the price and mucked as Tada showed two pair Q♣ T♣ .

Sreekanth Narayanan opened in early position, raised by Andres Vasquez to 6,700. Noppon Taengruen cold called on the small blind and Narayanan completed for a three way pot.

Action on flop 9♥ 4♦ 5♠ checked round to turn 9♣ , where Taengruen led 4,500. Narayanan called while Vasquez bumped it up to 14,000. Both stuck around to see river K♠ , where Vasquez bet a final 32,900 checked to him. Taengruen called and so did Narayanan, making it a three way showdown.

Vasquez showed trip nines A♠ 9♠ , beating Taengruen's Q♦ Q♣ but not Narayanan's full house 5♦ 5♥ for the win.

George Tomescu opened on the hijack and was met with a 7,000 three bet from Vishal Ojha right behind. Tomescu clicked back to 14,000, and Ojha completed.

On board 9♣ 7♠ 2♦ K♠ Q♥ , Tomescu barreled all three streets - 9,000, 9,000, and a final all-in for 16,500, leaving Ojha to give it up by the river.

Linda Nguyen on the big blind, was spotted firing a 6,500 bet into a pot of 10,900 on board 2♥ Q♦ 8♦ T♥ A♣ . Fabrice Giz behind tank shoved for the rest, and Nguyen packed up in quick surrender.

With already 23,600 in the middle across board 9♣ A♠ 2♦ 6♠ , action was caught on Suguru Sawada pulling an attempt for 14,000 on the small blind. Haile Kuo tank called behind and was put in another tough spot after Sawada bet all-in on river 5♣ for 22,700.

Kuo eventually found the call with top pair A♥ 8♥ and shipped the win as Sawada revealed bluff K♥ Q♠ for his elimination.

Xinchen He opened on the hijack and called a 6,500 three bet from Johan Lees on the small blind.

On flop 7♦ 4♥ 3♠ , He was faced with a 3,700 continuation bet from his opponent and responded with a raise to 9,000. Lees completed but surrendered on turn 9♥ after He gunned for another 11,000.

Preflop action between Yuya Tada and David Chiv built up a pot of 13,800 straight away.

On flop 2♥ 7♦ 9♠ , Tada bet 7,000, check raised by Chiv to 20,000. Tada answered with an all-in, risking his entire 46,000. Chiv missed to take the spot and Tada revealed A♥ 9♣ as he raked in the boost.

A pot of 21,000 was centered around board 5♦ Q♦ 7♥ A♥ when Foo Long fired a bet of 10,000. Andrei Ybapob check called on the small blind but was unable to get to showdown after Long continued for a final 25,000 on river J♥ .

Thai Do opened utg and called a 5,000 three bet from Sergin Mark on the button.

On flop 6♣ 6♥ Q♠ , Do check called a 3,500 bet from his opponent, but laid it down after Mark barreled another 13,000 on turn 9♥ .

With a pot of 10,200 in the middle across board 7♣ Q♠ 6♣ 5♠ , action was caught on Trong Hieu Ngo firing a bet of 7,000. Pham Tien Dung behind, raised for 10,000 more and went on to push his last 18,400 on river K♠ . Trong tank called both streets with 8♦ 8♥ , only to book the loss as Pham revealed a turned straight 4♥ 3♥.

Nattawut Kwunsong opened 2,000 utg+1 and saw Jerome Finck flick in his last 3,400. Shahin Norouzian on the small blind joined the action and Kwunsong completed.
