All the chips are bagged up and the numbers are in. A total of 146 entered Flight D - Day 1 with 81 players surviving. Up top was Kiyoung Kim with a stack of 581,500. At his heels was Huang Yu Chen with 569,500, and to round out the top three was Ho Yi Chang with 529,500.

Registration is still open for Flight D, closing at the starting buzzer of Level 3 on Thursday, January 15. Entering players will receive a 120,000 stack which is a healthy 30 big blinds. Blinds increase every 60 minutes.

On a turn board showing 9♠ T♦ Q♥ 5♥ and 29,000 in the pot, the blinds checked to John Niko Costiniano at under the gun who tested with an 18,000 bet.

Action swung back to the small blind Woo Tshung Yeo who called then big blind Jintae Yang raised to 55,000. This was enough for Costiniano to give up his hand while Yeo went clear other direction and jammed.

Yang was well covered and paused for thought. Yeo took it as a sign that he was ahead and fist-pumped. Then Yang called.

Action on the button, Huang Yu Chen, he three-bet to 14,000, sending to option back to Erquiaga. The Filipino pro answered with a four-bet to 50,000, and after Sun bowed out, Chen jammed his big stack. Erquiaga folded.

Wutikrai Phraikhieo min-clicked from under the gun and only next door neighbor Piet Pape gave him action for the dealer to burn and flop it.

When the cards came 7♦ 4♦ 3♣ , Phraikhieo checked, Pape took the reins with a bet of 7,500, then Phraikhieo answered with a raise to 18,000. Pape was unfazed and within seconds, he called to head to fourth street.

No more checking for Phraikhieo who laid out a c-bet of 16,000 on turn K♦ . Pape let him have the pot without further challenge.

First to act Shun Hei Lee opened 2,500 and down the orbit on the small blind, Hao Lin challenged with three-bet to 11,500. Lee wasted no time deciding and called.

On a flop of 6♠ 8♥ K♣ , Lin continued for 7,500 and again Lee flatted. Lin paused for a time-bank on the turn 4♣ , then fired a 21,000 bet. Lee used a time-bank as well before laying out a bet that covered Lin's stack.

Lin risked his tournament and turned over A♠ K♠ top pair. Lee had Q♣ J♣ flush draw. The river was a black card but not the suit Lee needed. Instead it was the 3♠ for a safe landing for Lin to double through.

Following an open from Simon Hoffmann, cutoff player Alan King Lun Lau three-bet 8,500 and found one caller in David Erquiaga on the button. After a fold, big blind Sung Jin Yun squeezed for his last 36,000.

Hoffmann got out of the heat while Lau tanked for three-time banks before sliding out the call. Erquiaga tanked as well, though much shorter, burning one time chip then called.

After the tense preflop action, the board completed 4♥ 8♦ 4♠ K♦ 5♦ with Lau and Erquiaga checking it to the river. No more checking for Lau as he dipped in and pulled out 37,000. Erquiaga tanked again for one time chip then folded.

Lee Goes Down As First Bust of the Day

Among the players that was seated by the starting buzzer was Soohyeok Lee who already has two trophies under his belt having won the Pandora's Mystery Bounty and a Hyper Turbo side event. Lee hasn't had much luck at the main event though having fallen at the previous flights. His troubles continued as he became the first bust of the day just twenty minutes into the flight.

Luke Dainton

The takedown happened in two hands with a majority of Lee's chips claimed by Luke Dainton. A♠ retold by Dainton, he called a raise from a player at under the gun then Lee three-bet to 10,000. Under the gun folded and Dainton called.

On a board that completed J-10-7-4-4 Lee barreled 12,500 on the flop and another 35,000 on the turn, Dainton check-called both then led on the river for 11,000. Lee called with pocket fives, Dainton had pocket nines.

Down to just 25,000, Lee shoved with pocket threes into Jintae Yang's pocket aces.

Flight D Gets Underway at 12:30 PM - Registration Open All Day

The Gods of Poker Taipei: The Titan Assembly continues today, January 14, as Flight D takes center stage with cards in the air at 12:30 PM. Running across two days, the flight features extended registration with blind levels clocking in a total of four hours with scheduled breaks every two hours.

By far the slowest structure of the series, players get to experience the depth of the Cronus Structure as Flight D offers a perfect entry point for every style of player, albeit time-limit tournament specialists, cash game players, deepstack grinders, and even late arrivals looking to settle in before the real climb begins.

With a buy-in of NT$ 45,000 (~US$ 1,400), players begin with a 120,000 stack, equivalent to 120 big blinds at the opening level. Players that sign up at Level 2 start with 60 big blinds. When registration closes on Thursday, January 15, just before the start of Level 3, last second entries will start with 30 big blinds. From there, the blinds increase every 60 minutes until ITM is reached.

The Main Event has drawn 271 entries with 38 players through to the ITM round. For players looking to chase the top spot, the bar was set by Chihwei Fan at Flight A at 2,375,000.
