Chih Wei Fan - GOP Taipei 2026 Main Event Champion

In just five levels of final day, Taiwan’s Chih Wei Fan captured the inaugural Gods of Poker Taipei Main Event title, claiming the Black-and-Gold Gauntlet and the NT$ 4,323,180 (~US$ 136,864) top prize.

In a post-win interview, Fan shared,

"I think the structure is brilliant! I rate the structure really high."

Taking place at the CTP Asia Poker Arena from January 12-18, the Main Event drew 556 entries across five flights, each one ponying up the NT$ 45,000 buy-in to breach the guarantee. A total of 77 players earned a share of the NT$ 21,617,280 (∼US$ 684,000) prize pool.

With just 11 players returning for the final day, Fan took the lead at three-handed, capitalizing after then-chip leader Long Hin Shiao lost a big pot to Yu Yeh Chun.

Shortly after, Fan sent Shiao to the rail in third place after spiking a miracle river, ballooning his stack to overwhelming proportions. With the advantage firmly in hand, Fan wore Chun down until a final, desperate shove ended Chun’s run in second place, crowning Fan as the newest GOP Main Event champion.

Both players caught a piece of the flop T♣ 8♦ 7♣ with Fan ahead with two pair over Chun's pair and open-ended. After Chun checked, Fan didn't pass it up and bet 800,000, Chun called.

The turn 5♣ brought another check from Chun and another bet from Fan of 2,000,000, Chun folded and dropped to 11 big blinds.

The final day will open with Lin Wei Kai at the helm with 62 big blinds. Lin amassed a large portion of his stack when he landed quads and got value off Shen Bo Yu. Lin would have closed out the heat with a lot more had he not lost an expensive flip against Juhyung Son during the last hands of the day. Due to this, Son catapulted and will enter the final day ranked second in chips with 50 big blinds.

Locking up the third spot is Taiwanese high roller Chihwei Fan with 46 big blinds. Fan zoomed up the ranks early in the day on a three-way cooler, then during the last hour of play, he caught Seung Hyuk Jung on a bluff.

The last player to leap up the ranking was Yao Hou Chun with a pocket pair that dodged overcards on the final hand of the night. Chun will start his final day with 46 big blinds.
