Wesley Zikai Huang - Day 1C Chip Leader

After 15 levels of play, Day 1C of the APPT Manila 2026 Main Event has come to an end, with another massive field making its way through the flight.

A total of 527 entries were recorded in Day 1C, but after a full day of action, only 93 players managed to secure their chips and bag up for Day 2.

Leading the way is Wesley Zikai Huang, who finished the flight with 484,000 chips, good for 121 big blinds. Huang stayed near the top throughout the latter stages and finished the day with a commanding stack heading into the combined Day 2 field.

Close behind is Jonald Garcia, who bagged 432,000 (108 big blinds), while Ryan Ming Hong rounds out the top three with 416,000 (104 big blinds).

PokerStars LIVE Gives Back

Before the final hands were dealt, the tournament atmosphere once again moved beyond the poker tables.

With the players already having put in 15 levels of action, PokerStars LIVE Manila treated the remaining field to a buffet and a short live performance, giving players a chance to relax, grab some food and enjoy the break before returning to the final stretch.

It was another gesture of appreciation for the players who have come out to support the APPT Manila festival, which has already attracted more than 1,400 entries in the Main Event.

Prize Pool Keeps Growing

The numbers continue to climb as well.

With Day 1D still set to complete the opening-flight schedule, the Main Event prize pool has already grown beyond PHP 97 million (~USD 1.5 million), comfortably surpassing the original PHP 60 million (~USD 1 million) guarantee.

And with the final flight still in action, that number is expected to climb even further before the field is combined for Day 2.

Day 2 Awaits

Tomorrow, all the surviving players will return to the tables at 12:00 PM local time, bringing the entire field together for the next stage of the Main Event.

The money bubble will finally come into play, with players battling to secure their share of the seven-figure prize pool before the field continues to shrink toward the final table.

For the 93 players who survived Day 1C, the bags are now sealed and the work continues tomorrow.

The bubble awaits, and from there, the race to the final table begins.

Under the gun Jeoffrey Sibal opened to 9,500 and found one caller. On the big blind, Haresh Nathan then moved all in for 99,500.

Back to Sibal, who quickly announced all in for 104,000. The remaining player got out of the way, leaving the two players heads-up.

It was the classic flip, and the K♠ 6♦ 5♠ flop immediately swung the advantage Nathan's way.

Sibal was now down to just two outs to keep his tournament life alive. The 2♥ turn missed, and the 8♥ river was no help either.

Nathan's ace-king held, giving him a much-needed double-up while leaving Sibal with a short stack.

Unfortunately for Sibal, there was barely any time to recover. He was in the big blind the very next hand and found no way out, hitting the rail with just 27 minutes left on the clock.

A brutal sequence for Sibal, one big cooler, then another hand before he could even rebuild.

This is the kind of hand that leaves everyone at the table staring at the board.

David Wang was all in and covered by Carlo Calingasan, with the two players finding themselves in a cooler.

The A♣ 9♠ 4♥ flop was perfect for Wang. He flopped top set, while Calingasan was left with just two jacks in the deck.

The J♠ arrived on the turn, giving Calingasan a set of jacks, but it still wasn't enough. Wang's aces remained ahead with the higher set.

That left Calingasan with just one out.

Then came the J♦ river.

The only card Calingasan could hit arrived, giving him quads and sending Wang to the rail.

A runout this specific is the kind of thing you almost never see, happening only around once in several million deals when all the conditions are combined.

Had this happened in a cash game at Okada Manila, the table would almost certainly have been talking about the bad beat jackpot. This time, there was no jackpot, just a brutal tournament beat for Wang and a massive pot pushed toward Calingasan.

Fresh from a third-place finish in last night's APPT Super High Roller, Vinay Boob is back in the Main Event and already making his presence felt.

Vinay has been on a remarkable run at APPT Manila 2026, finishing third in the APPT Super High Roller, third in the APPT Open, and third in the Super Deep Hyper Turbo. With five cashes already worth PHP 4,282,280 (~USD 70,540), he is now looking to add another cash and deep run to his impressive festival.

Vinay opened to 2,500 from the cutoff and found only Perez Olvera calling from the button.

Vinay continued for 2,000 on the J♠ 9♦ 6♣ flop, then fired another 3,500 on the T♠ turn. Olvera called both streets.

The 8♦ river completed the board, and Vinay put 70,000 into the middle, enough to put Olvera all in. Olvera asked for a count, and after some confusion over whether the bet was intended as an all-in, the dealer confirmed that Olvera had 26,700 behind and was officially all in.

Hyunsik Nam called from the cutoff, and Afonkin, fresh from his earlier double knockout, joined the action. Louis Leonardo then called all in for his remaining 10,300, while Shuo also moved all in for 8,500.

Afonkin erupted at the table as the river eliminated both opponents, sending Marriott and Tomoto to the rail while he scooped the massive pot for a huge double knockout.

Aj Cris Acdal raised to 1,700 from early position and received a call from hijack Katsutoshi Watanabe. Small blind Markus Garberg then three-bet to 7,000, and only Watanabe came along.

Garberg took a moment when the dealer fanned the 5♥ 5♠ 6♦ flop before moving all in with his covering stack. The Japanese player took an equal amount of time before mucking his hand.

Garberg then opened from the button for 1,600 before calling small blind Takuya Miyamoto's 4,000 three-bet.

Miyamoto led for 3,500 on the A♦ 3♦ 8♥ flop and Garberg stuck around.

Both checked the K♥ turn to the 6♥ river, where Miyamoto fired a hefty 11,000. Garberg didn't take too long before sending his hand back to the dealer.

APPT Manila Main Event Day 1C Gets Underway

Day 1C of the APPT Manila Main Event kicks off today at 12:00 PM local time, offering another chance to lock up a Day 2 seat and a share of the PHP 60,000,000 guarantee.

Day 1A drew 300 entries, with Joungsun Kim topping the flight on 855,000 and 47 players advancing. Day 1B followed with 348 entries, bringing the running total to 648 through the first two flights, with 56 players surviving. Cezar Quiambao led that flight with 484,000, ahead of Hirohito Marunaka (414,000) and Emmanouil Chalkiotis (400,000).

Those who miss today still have one final shot in the Day 1D Turbo, which begins at 7:00 PM.
