World Poker Tour Season XXII underway in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The 22nd Season of globally renowned brand World Poker Tour is underway in Cambodia! Taking place at prime destination, NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh, this is the first time the brand has brought its Main Tour to Southeast Asia. Already on display and towering over the players is the prestigious Mike Sexton Champions Cup. In just under two week’s time, the new season’s first Main Tour champion will see its name added to the list of over 300 past winners.

WPT Cambodia runs January 17 to 30, 2024 featuring a 44-game lineup and USD 1.7 Million in guarantees. The festival ensures plenty of choices and chances at capturing trophies with event buy ins from USD 200 to a hefty USD 10,000. WPT Cambodia – Player Guide

The highlight is of course the WPT Cambodia Championship and its USD 1,000,000 guarantee. This is the first seven figure prize pool announced by the brand in the Southeast Asia. The Main Tour tournament structure is revered as one of the best in the world. Starting stack is 250x deep with slow increasing blinds. Event runs January 25 to 29, 2024. Buy in is USD 3,500.

Opening Day games

WPT Cambodia cards went flying at 12:30pm with Event 1: NagaWorld Superstack quickly attracting a good crowd. By the first break, over 100 entries was on record with registration still open for another few hours, closing at 6pm local time. This is a two-day event. Buy in is USD 400. Already seen at the felt is 2023 WPT Prime Cambodia runner up Bien Mai

At the close of registration comes Event 2: Superstack Turbo at 6pm. The winner of this event will be the first to win a WPT Season XXII trophy and kickstart the Player of the Festival race. Buy in is USD 200.

In addition to tournaments are Cash Games offering NLH and PLO. Opening day limits currently available are $1/$3, $2/$5, $5/$10, $10/$20, $5/$5 (PLO only).

Players will also be glad to know that there is NO TAX on both cash and tournament winnings.

Newcomers to Cambodia should take the time to discover their surroundings. The country’s capital city Phnom Penh offers plenty of attractions such as fantastic restaurants, markets, historic sites, and the Mekong River where tourists can take boat tours to catch the gorgeous sunsets.

Beyond the city lies Siem Reap, home to the renowned Angkor Wat. As the largest historical structure globally, it captivates with its stunning architecture. Angkor Wat is frequently the focal point of discussions whenever Cambodia is mentioned.
