Mohsin Charania is an American professional poker player who is famous for winning poker’s “Triple Crown.” Born in Canada and raised in Chicago, he used his background in finance to become one of the most successful players in the game. Charania has won major titles all over the world, from Monte Carlo to Las Vegas, proving he can win in any environment against the best players on earth.

With total live tournament winnings of over $6.6 million (according to The Hendon Mob), Charania is a legend in the poker community. His biggest win came in 2012 at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final Main Event, where he took home a massive $1,782,343.
He is one of the few players to complete the Triple Crown by winning a main event title on all three major tours. He won the WPT Grand Prix de Paris in 2013 for $449,136 and the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in 2014 for $1,177,890. He finished the set in 2017 by winning a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event for $364,438.

Charania grew up in Chicago after his family moved there from Canada. He was always a bright student and went to the University of Illinois to study finance. It was during his college years that he started playing poker with friends, including fellow pro Faraz Jaka.
Before he became a star in live tournaments, he was a massive winner online using the screen names “chicagocards1” and “sms9231.” He actually had a job at J.P. Morgan after graduating but decided to quit after only two weeks because he was making so much more money playing cards. That decision clearly paid off, as he has now been a top professional for over fifteen years.

Charania is known for his calm focus and his ability to make very smart, mathematical decisions. Because of his finance degree, he looks at poker like a business. He doesn’t take unnecessary risks and is very good at reading his opponents’ betting patterns.
He is especially strong in “No Limit Hold’em” tournaments, where the games last for many days. He has a lot of patience and knows exactly when to play aggressively to win a big pot. Even when he is under a lot of pressure at a final table, he stays quiet and keeps a steady hand, which makes him very difficult to play against.
