Biography & Poker Background

Born in Plattsburgh, New York, Wong spent much of his life in Brooklyn before moving to Florida. He has a background in finance and accounting, which likely helped him develop the analytical mindset needed for professional play. He started his live tournament career in 2008 with a win at the World Poker Finals for over $110,000 and has been cashing in major events ever since.

Wong was also a highly successful online player for many years, competing under the screen name “hummylun”. He famously sharpened his skills by playing heads-up matches against some of the best players in the world for over a decade, which gave him the technical foundation to transition into high-stakes live tournaments.

Play Style & Strategy

Wong is often described as a “mixed game” specialist because he is equally skilled in many different poker variants, including Razz, Pot Limit Omaha, and H.O.R.S.E.. His strategy is built on a deep understanding of the mathematical side of the game, combined with years of experience in high-pressure final table situations.

He is known for being extremely calm and collected at the table, even when the stakes are at their highest. This mental toughness was on full display during his 2016 Main Event run, where he managed his chip stack through several grueling days to reach the final table. Whether he is playing a standard No Limit Hold’em event or a complex limit game, Wong is regarded as a technical expert who rarely makes mistakes.
