Frank Funaro is an American professional poker player from Sewell, New Jersey, who has become one of the most dangerous young faces on the tournament circuit. Known for his incredible aggression and background as a top ranked online player, Funaro has successfully made the jump to live high stakes events. With multiple World Series of Poker titles and a massive score in a World Poker Tour championship, he has proven that he can hold his own against the best players in the world.

Career Earnings & Biggest Results

According to The Hendon Mob, Frank Funaro has won over $4.2 million in live tournament earnings. His biggest career win happened in late 2022 at the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. He finished in 5th place in that massive field to take home a life changing $1,301,000, which remains his largest single score to date.

Funaro is a two time World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet winner. He won his first bracelet in 2022 during a WSOP Online $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship for $94,096. He followed that up in 2024 by winning his first live bracelet in the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty event. In a fast paced final table filled with professionals, he came out on top to earn $612,997. He also has a strong record at the Borgata in Atlantic City, where he first started recording tournament cashes back in 2016.

Biography & Poker Background

Frank Funaro grew up in New Jersey and started his poker journey by dominating the local online streets. Before he was a well known live pro, he was a superstar on sites like WSOP.com and PokerStars NJ, where he played under the screen name “thewholefunk.” He eventually reached the #1 ranking for online poker players in the United States, showing just how much volume and success he had in the digital game.

Outside of poker, Funaro has also spent time working in real estate, a side business that helps him stay grounded away from the swings of the casino. Poker is definitely a family affair for the Funaros, as his brother Nicholas is also a successful tournament player with hundreds of thousands of dollars in cashes. Frank credits his early days grinding the small stakes at the Borgata for giving him the experience needed to eventually play for millions.

Play Style & Strategy

Funaro is known for a fearless and high pressure style of play. Because he comes from a heavy online background, he is very comfortable with the math of the game and isn’t afraid to put his opponents in difficult spots for all their chips. He is particularly good at “turbo” structures, where the blinds go up quickly and you have to make fast, aggressive decisions.

His win in the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty showed his ability to stay calm during the “madness” of a fast tournament. He is a player who understands that luck plays a part, but he works hard to put himself in positions where his skill can shine. Whether he is playing a deep stacked championship or a fast bounty event, Funaro relies on his ability to read the table and pull the trigger on big bluffs when he senses weakness.
