Sydney-born Indian poker player Akshay Kapoor kick-started his poker career in 2016, debuting at the Star Casino Recurring Tournaments with a seventh-place win in the No-Limit Hold’em Monday Night Turbo event. Kapoor quickly became a regular in the Recurring Tournaments series and WSOPC Sydney.
Kapoor nabbed his maiden title in 2019, winning the MCC Progressive Bounty at the Marconi Cup Carnival for AUD 3,550 (USD 2,392). He ventured out of Australia for the first time in 2022, hitting Goa and Phnom Penh. Kapoor managed a deep run at WPT Prime Cambodia, cashing USD 12,226. His Phnom Penh excursion paid off most at APPT Cambodia, where he nabbed a second-place victory in the Main Event, cashing USD 60,884.
Following his big win, Kapoor traveled to Vietnam for the first time with a respectable run at APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022. He returned to Phnom Penh in March 2023, bringing his total live earnings up to USD 166,278.
