Profile

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, player Yita Choong locked up two wins at the 2024 USOP Taiwan. Choong emerged as champion of the Mini High Roller earning himself a payout of NTD 412,200 (~USD 13,000) then later placed first in the High Roller Megastack, taking home a prize pot of NTD 2,436,300 (~USD 77,160).

In Previous Years

Choong was previously crowned the 2022 GPI Australian Player of the Year, who, at the time, rose to prominence after reaching the final table at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Millionaire Maker. 2022 was a stellar year for the player, with him finishing in 45th place in the $10,700 buy-in WSOP Main Event—the best result for Australia then.

Choong’s 2023 WSOP run was just as impressive, finishing 3rd in the Bumper Freezeout Field and placing 57th overall in a pool of over 3,000. Perhaps in his most ambitious stint in 2023, Choong banked the APT National Poker Championships’ No-Limit Hold’em TLPT 25K Challenge for A$ 383,510 (~USD 242,290)

In his most recent stints, Choong closed off the 2023 poker season in 19th place at Asian Poker Festival (APF) Hanoi’s No-Limit Hold’em event and 2nd place at USOP Da Nang’s Super High Roller event.
