Day 40 of the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas was a landmark one - four bracelets awarded, Annette Obrestad back at the tables for the first time in eight years, and the Main Event closing in on what promises to be a record-breaking field.

South Africa’s Adriaan Jacobs, just 21 years old, won Event #78: $600 Deepstack Championship for $282,817 and his first bracelet. Myles Mullaly survived a relentless series of all-in situations to claim Event #84: $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty for $593,601. Toby Price won Event #81: $800 Summer Celebration for $500,000 and his first bracelet, carrying a pair of lucky dice gifted by his father throughout the tournament. Justin Fawcett took down Event #83: $1,500 Double Board Bomb Pot PLO after a gruelling final day.

Event #82: $10,000 Main Event - Day 1c

The headline story of the day came before a card was dealt. Obrestad - who set the record as the youngest bracelet winner when she won the WSOPE Main Event at 18 in 2007 - returned to the WSOP for the first time in eight years. Day 1c added 1,573 entries, pushing the overall field to 3,383 and the prize pool to $31,461,900. Yulian Bogdanov (315,000) led the flight. Notable survivors include Brian Rast (119,100), Freddy Deeb (267,800), and Chino Rheem (171,300). Past Main Event champions Jamie Gold, Martin Jacobson, and Qui Nguyen all busted. The 1,166 Day 1c survivors join the Day 1a and 1b fields for the combined Day 2abc on July 6 at 11:00 a.m. Day 1d fires at 11:00 a.m. on July 5 and is expected to dwarf all previous flights.

Event #85: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em - Day 1

A field of 1,732 was cut to 53 players. Zixuan Liu (2,075,000) leads, ahead of Edgaras Kausinis (1,520,000) and Fahir Han (1,515,000). Bracelet winner Gregory Merson (1,030,000) is also through. The winner earns a share of the $1,524,160 prize pool. Day 2 begins at 11:00 a.m. on July 5.

What’s Coming on Day 41 of WSOP 2026

Day 1d of the Main Event fires at 11:00 a.m. on July 5 and is expected to be the biggest flight by a wide margin. The $1,000 NLHE plays to a conclusion at 11:00 a.m. The new Event #86: $600 Ultra Stack also debuts at 10:00 a.m.
