Philip Baider and Jongkyung Lee Top Flights
Flight C was the last regular heat with blinds increasing every 30 minutes. As expected, it pulled in the largest crowd of 290 entries with only 44 advancing to the ITM round. Philippine player Philip Baider wasn’t in radar until it neared the bubble round when he knocked out two players simultaneously with overcoming two big slicks.
Two busts later, the bubble burst on Zoughi Benyamin with outdrawn by Michael Gabby Concepcion‘s that paired the Ace. Flight leader Baider bagged up 628,000. This put him in second rank entering Day 2, just under Flight B leader Kyle Anderson. Also making the cut was recent Metro Summer Event champion Jae Chang.
Flight D was a Turbo with blinds increasing every 15 minutes. 148 took on the challenge with 23 reaching the ITM round. Many Flight C fallouts were scattered among the crowd. South Korea’s Jongkyung Lee emerged as flight leader with 414,000. Late in the day, Lee had near back to back eliminations to catapult to steal the top spot.
