Event recap

Leading up to the money round, a long list of players fired multiple bullets with some cashing in and some way off. Forking out the most was Norway’s Joachim “jochee” Haraldstad with 10 buy-ins contributed and walking away without any pay; fellow countryman Alfred Karlsson reached the money in 34th place but with 8 bullets fired, he too was in the red. At the final table, Ludovic “Gr4vyB04t” Geilich was on his sixth buy-in while eventual champion Ian “potamophobia” Matakis was on his third.

At 18 players remaining, potamophobia was riding high up top and held on until the final two tables. Action proceeded, Joe “DietrichFats” Serock (12th) fell to Gaurav “Haversham” Sood, UAE’s DaiMing141319 (11th) was booted next with Majki365 scooping it up. The lone Brazilian Joao Simao lost a costly showdown against Majki365 then busted in 10th place. Austria’s “Pwndidi” finished off the short stacked Haversham in 9th place, and Turkey’s “yirtilco” missed the final table with Slovenia’s Daniakak! shipping it.

The final table opened with everyone gunning for their first WSOP win. Pwndidi was chip leader, potamophobia ranked second, and Canada’s Tim “BeardOilGuy” Rutherford ranked sixth was on his second final table. The final race for the ring clocked in at just over an hour and a half. Daniakak! was first to go with potamophobia raking it in. Daniakak! was all in on the flop with QsJs10c9h draw, potamophobia AdAcKdQc, the board ran out 8s9s3d5h5d. Despite the early fall, it was a good day for Daniakak! with a WSOPC High Rollers side event win at the $840 Bounty Warmup for an additional US$ 16.6K. As for potamophobia, it gave him the lead which he never relinquished.

Shortly after, potamophobia widened his lead after shaving off a large portion of BeardOilGuy’s stack, then Pwndidi collected the rest. Next on potamophobia’s chopping block was Russia’s “Natashenka” (5th) to amass over half the chips in play. Before falling in 4th place, Pwndidi paid two double ups, one each to Gr4vyB04t and Majki365, potamophobia took the rest with AdQd4h3h two pair outdrawing QhQcJh6s, on a board 10h4sKc3s2c. Shoves were on the flop.
