Day 2 Ends With Hwisoo Kim Towering Over The Final 15 Players of the WPT Prime Cambodia Championship

Level 26: 50,000 / 75,000 ante: 75,000

Day 2 of the 2026 WPT Prime Cambodia Championship came out full throttle, with 136 players back under the bright lights of NagaWorld Phnom Penh, all chasing pay jumps and the dream of lifting a major WPT title.

The field was stacked with pedigree with former WPT Prime champions Zarvan Tumboli, David Erquiaga, and Hyundong Lee all in the mix, along with WPT Global ambassador Romulo Dorea, however it was a disappointing return, as each saw their run cut short early.

Just when the field closed in on the final two tables, the 2024 WPT Cambodia Passport runner-up Xiaosheng Zheng was sent packing in 21st place, and just before regulation play came to a halt, Yunsheng Sun became the final casualty of the night. Sun was eliminated on a brutal bad beat, denied the chance to surpass his 10th-place finish from 2023

Hwisoo Kim

Taking all of Sun's chips was newcomer Hwisoo Kim who closed the heat atop the 15 remaining players, amassing a dominating arsenal of 6,750,000. Kim surged during the last two levels of the day, becoming the only player to reach the 6M mark.

Closing the day ranked second-in-chips was Tomas Dedinas with a stack of 5,400,000. One of his biggest pots was against the day's entering second chip leader Tom Verbruggen, with a straight over mid pair. Rounding out the top three was Pang Kok Yong who ended India's hopes, knocking out Rajat Sharma in 19th place. Yong bagged up 4,025,000 in chips.

Dmitry Gromov

Also making the cut were Dmitry Gromov, Chak Hei Chan, Michael Allen, and Daniel Charlton - each one carrying a storyline of their own. Gromov won the 2011 WPT Vienna and is making his first appearance in Cambodia. Chan and Allen have already improved on their previous WPT Prime Cambodia runs with Allen surpassing his 24th finish in 2022 and Chan his 17th place finish last year. A♠ for Charlton, he is decorated with a 6th place finish at the 2025 WPT Cambodia Championship.

Rindra Norodom

Out of all of the survivors, the first player to catch everyone's attention was WPT Cambodia regular, Rindra Norodom who came out of the gates on fire. Within minutes, he doubled up through the day's entering chip leader Armaan Kochhar which was just the first of several collisions between them that led to Kochhar's demise.

The final 15 players return on Tuesday, February 3 at 11:30am for the final race to victory. While each one is guaranteed a payout of USD 11,300, the target is the top prize of USD 164,570* which includes a seat worth USD 10,400 to the WPT World Championship.

WPT Odds Calculator Hand: Yunsheng Sun Crashes In Brutal Fashion

Yunsheng Sun raises 150,000 from middle position and on the big blind is the chip leader Hwinsoo Kim who defends.

Action erupts at the flop of 3♠ 9♣ 8♦ with Sun continuing for 200,000 only to face a check-jam from Kim. Wasting no time at all, Sun calls for his tournament life.
