Andrei Kalgin Wins the Season WPT Prime Cambodia Championship

Figuerres is ahead but needs to dodge an ace. The flop comes a dramatic T♦ Q♦ K♥ for a straight to Kalgin and a set to Figuerres.

With a huge rail cheering on Figuerres, they call out for the board to pair however it's the 9♠ that finds the turn. The rail proceeds to get louder as they anticipate the river card and when it comes down with the J♥ , it's a straight on the board. One railbird yells out "split!" only to get laughs as Kalgin takes down the whole shebang with broadway.

It spells the end for a short-lived final day which wraps up after fewer than seven hours during which the lion's share of the $1,062,150 prize pool was awarded. Only 15 players returned out of a field of 1,095 entries to battle for the title in the Season 24 WPT Prime Cambodia $1,100 Championship Event.

Eventual runner-up Figuerres comes up just short of following into the footsteps of David Erquiaga, who won the WPT Prime title here at the luxurious five-star NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Season 20. Figuerres more than doubled his previous best score on the live poker circuit and earned $103,000 for his efforts.

However, all attention was on Kalgin when the final river card fell. He returned second in chips for the final day after winning a huge three-way all-in towards the end of Day 2. After a topsy-turvy short-handed affair, Kalgin knocked out Malaysia's Pang Kok Yong to take a commanding lead in heads-up play and then flopped broadway to seal the victory.

On top of his cash prize of $154,170, Kalgin also earns the entry for the season-ending WPT World Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas. Fellow countryman Dmitry Gromov was the only former WPT Champions Club member still in contention and exited in 11th place.

Hand #116-119: Andrei Kalgin On a Winning Spree

HAND #116: After losing consecutive pots, Andrei Kalgin opens 600,000 and Joshua Figuerres calls. No brakes for Kalgin as he continues on the flop of 3♥ 3♠ J♦ but before the count, Figuerres folds.

HAND #117: Another pot for Kalgin who first calls Figuerres's min-raise then check-calls 400,000 on the flop A♠ T♣ J♦ After players check the turn 3♠ Kalgin leads out 750,000 on the river 9♠ Figuerres calls then mucks to Kalgin's J♣ 4♣ pair.

HAND #118: Kalgin limps in then gets to see the flop cheap with Figuerres checking. Both players check down the board 8♦ J♠ 9♠ A♥ 3♠. Figuerres shows 5♠ 3♣ bottom pair, Kalgin win the pot with 8♥ 2♥ pair on the flop.

HAND #113: Joshua Figuerres opens from the button for 600,000 then barrels 600,000 sand 1,800,000 on the flop J♥ 9♣ K♦ and turn A♠ Kalgin folds on the turn.

HAND #114: Figuerres defends his big blind by calling a min-raise then check-calls a bet of 450,000 on the flop K♠ 8♣ Q♣ Big bets follow on the turn 4♦ with 2,400,000 out of Kalgin's stack that Figuerres continues to check-call. This takes them to the river J♠ No more passive calls from Figuerres who fires a lead bet of 5,000,0000, Kalgin folds.

Pang Kok Yong Eliminated by Andrei Kalgin in 3rd Place ($76,000)

HAND #111:

Pang Kok Yong raises the button to 500,000 and Andrei Kalgin is the only caller to the Q♣ 6♦ 3♥ flop on which the Russian check-calls for only 300,000.

Kalgin checks the 5♣ turn and Yong leans closer to the table.

"I am counting the pot," he says and arrives at around 1.7 million.

Yong grabs five T-100,000 chips with his hand but declares a bet of five million. A split second later, he realises the error but the verbal bet is binding and the dealer helps with moving the required chips forward.

Kalgin then declares all-in and Yong calls, after which a massive crowd gatheres on the feature stage to witness the showdown.

Yong repeats several times to spectators and friends about the mishap and is the player at risk for 12,950,000, as Kalgin has him covered. He even tries to go for a smoke outside of the tournament room but is called back to witness the final outcome.

The river is the J♣ and Yong is eliminated in third place, while Kalgin takes a commanding lead for heads-up play. The hand takes so long that the clock runs five minutes into the new level, which will restart with a full 30-minute clock for heads-up play.

After the 2♣ turn they check and Yong bets the 5♦ river for 400,000 with the words "value bet".

Hands #103-106: Andrei Kalgin Takes the Lead

HAND #103: Andrei Kalgin limps the small blind and Pang Kok Yong then declares a verbal raise to 650,000 before wanting to change his mind to 750,000. The verbal bet is binding and Kalgin calls the 650,000.

On the 5♦ 4♠ 2♠ flop, Kalgin check-calls for 500,000 and does so again for 1,000,000 on the 9♣ turn. That leads them to the 3♠ river on which Kalgin checks. Yong bets 3,500,000 and Kalgin uses one time bank extension before he moves all-in.

Within five seconds, Yong folds the 7♦ 6♥ face-up and then adds "trust me bro, I go for the win" in table chat.

HAND #104: Yong limps the small blind and Joshua Figuerres checks behind. They check down the T♣ 5♣ 5♠ K♥ K♣ board and Yong shows the J♦ 2♠ Figuerres wins it with the Q♥ 4♣

HAND #69: Joshua Figuerres limps in and Andrei Kalgin checks the big blind. On a board running 7♣ K♣ 6♥ 5♠ J♣ Figuerres triple barrels 400,000, 500,000, and 1,500,000. Kalgin calls off the flop and turn then snap-folds on the river.

HAND #70: Figuerres opens 40,000, small blind Kalgin calls, then big blind Pang Kok Yong fires a 1,100,000 three-bet. Figuerres responds with a four-bet to 4,200,000 which earns a quick fold from Kalgin while Yong goes clear other direction with a shove for 11,600,000.

Figuerres goes into the think tank and emerges with a fold after burning one time bank.

2026 WPT Prime Cambodia Championship Set To Crown A Winner

From a field of 1,095 entries, the 2026 WPT Prime Cambodia Championship is down to 15 players. Taking place at world-class NagaWorld Phnom Penh, the race to victory will see cards start flying at 11:30am with blinds resuming at 50,000-100,000 ante 100,000.

Like the first of two Championship events offered, the event drew 1,095 entries to easily cruise past the guarantee and generate a seven-figure prize pool of USD 1,051,750. When the finalists return, the minimum payout is USD 11,300 while on the line is the first WPT Prime title in Asia this year which comes with a lucrative USD 154,170 top prize and a seat worth USD 10,400 to the WPT World Championship at The Wynn Las Vegas.

The player with the best chance of claiming the title is Hwisoo Kim who enters with a massive stack of 6,750,000, equivalent to 67 big blinds. His closest challenger is Tomas Dedinas with 5,400,000 (54 big blinds).

Out of everyone in the lineup, only Dmitry Gromov carries a winner's badge for his victory at the 2011 WPT Vienna. Gromov enters with 1,150,000 (11 big blinds).

The final day opens at Level 27: 50,000-100,000 with a big blind ante of 100,000. Blinds increase every 60 minutes.
