Break Time; End of Updates

So far, there have been 178 entries into Day 1c of the WPT Championship Event, with 93 still with chips. The players are heading for a 15-minute break. Once they return, there will be just one more level of play before registration closes at the start of Level 10, at roughly 11:40 p.m.

Somuchpoker will provide the full survivor list and end-of-day chip counts ahead of Day 2 of the WPT Championship Event, where full live reporting will start until the end of the tournament.

Majid Saab Gets a Title; PLO and Prime Time Turbo Currently Running

The AUD 500 Second Shot Turbo - One Day Event has wrapped up, with Majid Saab taking the title ahead of Kevin Khun. Matthew Rolfe completed the podium, while Justin Huang and Vincent Choy rounded out the top five.

Elsewhere, the AUD 1,100 Prime Time Turbo - One Day Event is up and running with more than 30 entries so far, with late registration still open.

The AUD 1,100 Extreme PLO is also currently underway with 69 entries, creating a prize pool of AUD 69,000. Ten players will make the money, with the eventual champion taking home AUD 21,143.

Matt Savage on the Mic

With 138 players currently registered in Day 1c of the WPT Championship Event, WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage took a moment before the start of the next level to thank the venue, tournament staff, dealers and players for their support.

Savage has been one of the most recognizable tournament directors in poker for decades and is a co-founder of the Tournament Directors Association. He has also served as WPT Executive Tour Director for many years, helping oversee tournament standards and major events across the tour.

With Day 1c of the WPT Championship Event having now passed the 100-entry mark, there is also a final table playing out nearby.

The AUD 500 Second Shot Turbo - One Day Event is down to its final table from a field of 80 entries, with the eventual champion set to walk away with AUD 10,110.

Pham Looking to Go Back-to-Back

WPT Australia 2025 Championship Event Winner Alan Pham

Surviving yesterday's Day 1b flight with 82,000 was the reigning WPT Australia Championship champion, Alan Pham.

Pham took down the event in December 2025, topping a 600-entry field to earn AUD 558,211 (~US$364,958) after defeating Jordan Bautista heads-up.

With more than a starting stack heading into Day 2, Pham remains firmly in the hunt and will be one to watch as he looks to become the first player in WPT history to successfully defend a Championship Event title in back-to-back years.

Final Starting Flight of WPT Championship Event Kicks Off at 12:30 p.m.

Day 1c of the AUD 5,000 WPT Australia Championship gets underway today at 12:30 p.m. at The Star Sydney, with the final starting flight of the tournament stepping into the limelight.

Day 1b attracted 151 entries, with 53 players making it through to Day 2. Pranav Bhatt finished the flight on top with 549,500, followed by Ryan P. Henery on 479,000 and Dejan Boskovic with 371,000.

There are currently 103 players through to Day 2 from the opening two flights, with that number set to grow again today.

Players will once again begin with 50,000 chips and play 11 60-minute levels, with registration and unlimited re-entries available until the start of Level 10.

All survivors will return for Day 2 on Sunday, September 27, when the fields from all three starting flights combine for the first time.

Somuchpoker will be on the floor throughout Day 1c, bringing you updates from the WPT Australia Championship.
