Qiu Quan of China open shoves from utg+1 for his remaining 525,000 and gets a caller in the utg+2 position from Russia’s Valeriy Fokin.

The hands are turned over as Qiu shows J♣ T♣ while Fokin has Q♣ Q♦ .

The flop comes K♣ 4♠ 9♥ to add the two remaining queens to Qiu direct outs. They never arrived, though, as the last two community cards are the 7♠ and the 6♥ .

There are now eight players all assured of US$22,256.

Taiwan’s Charlie Chiu is all-in preflop against Qiu Quan of China. Chiu is ahead with T♣ T♦ facing A♦ 4♠ from Qiu.

The flop gave the edge right off the bat to the player from China: A♠ 6♠ 2♣ while the last two community cards were of no help: 8♠ and K♥ .

Qiu’s double up also dents Chiu’s monster stack

Once again all-in preflop are China’s Qiu Quan and Monika Zukowicz from Poland with the latter now at risk.

Qiu shows K♠ T♥ (the same hand his opponent tried to bust him with earlier) while Zukowicz has A♥ J♦ (now with the statistical edge).

The runout changed nothing: K♦ 4♠ A♦ 6♥ 3♠ as Zukowicz doubles up off of the same player she lost most of her chips to just an orbit prior.

Poland’s Monika Zukowicz and Qiu Quan of China are all-in preflop with the latter’s tournament life on the line he just staked his remaining 182,000 in hopes of a double-up.

Zukowicz shows K♦ T♦ while Qiu has 6♠ 6♣ .

The runout goes: A♦ 5♣ 7♠ 3♠ 2♦ to give Qiu that double-up he needed and the loss sends Zukowicz’s stack to below the ten bb mark.

Belgium’s Thomas Boivin opens from the button for 18,000 and gets re-raised from the bb by Qiu Quan of China for 55,000. Boivin makes the call.

The flop is A♣ 6♦ 8♦ as Qiu CBets 30,000 and is greeted by a fold from the Belgian.

At Day 1, registration stayed open all day, attracting 117 entries. That number will continue to increase with one level remaining today for last minute weekend warriors to jump in. Late comers will still have a decent 100,000 (25 bb) stack at their disposal however will have to act fast to try to catch the leader, Thian Andhoko, who has over six times that amount.
