Current chip-leader Manuel Carvalho of Portugal opens from utg for 21,000 and gets two callers before Poland’s Monika Zukowicz 3-bet shoves for 99,000 from the sb. Carvalho makes the call while the previous callers fold.

Zukowicz shows that she has A♦ Q♠ , dominating Carvalho’s K♠ Q♥ .

The runout goes: 2♠ 3♣ 8♦ Q♦ 5♦ giving the lady from Poland a double up while the chip-leader still stays at the seven-figure chip mark.

Zheng Xiaosheng of China opens from the button for 12,000 and gets called from the sb of Portugal’s Manuel Carvalho. Daniel Yang , however, 3-bets from the bb for 38,000 and gets both his opponents to make the call.

The flop comes K♣ 9♣ 5♥ as Carvalho checks. Yang CBets to 30,000 as Zheng opts to step aside. Carvalho then check-raises to 125,000. Yang decides to fold.

Another big hand in progress sees a pot of 160,000 on the river with a board of A♠ 8♣ 3♥ 3♣ Q♣ and former Day 1 chip-leader Thian Andhoko of India in the tank and burning one Time Bank card before announcing a bet of 100,000. His opponent, Manuel Carvalho of Portugal, takes all of two seconds to make the call.

Andhoko is compelled to show J♦ T♦ while Carvalho tables A♣ 6♠ for top pair on the flop. The call brings the Portuguese player’s stack to near the one million mark while Andhoko’s plummet continues.

The flop comes 2♥ 9♥ J♠ as the blinds check and Carvalho continues for 20,000. Shiina Okamoto of Japan makes the call from the sb while the bb folds. It is heads-up to the turn as the K♦ arrives. Okamoto checks again and the Portuguese player fires 55,000. Okamoto proceeds to check-raise all-in for his last 115,000 and gets quickly called.

Okamoto tables 9♦ 9♠ for mid-set on the flop while Carvalho shows Q♥ T♥ for a straight on the turn. Needing the board to pair to stave off elimination, the Q♠ comes on the river to bounce the player from Japan on an unfortunate cooler.

At Day 1, registration stayed open all day, attracting 117 entries. That number will continue to increase with one level remaining today for last minute weekend warriors to jump in. Late comers will still have a decent 100,000 (25 bb) stack at their disposal however will have to act fast to try to catch the leader, Thian Andhoko, who has over six times that amount.
