Paul Hoefer is moved over to table three to balance the shrinking field but his fate is sealed soon thereafter. Hoefer defends the big blind against an open raise by Ronald Haverkamp and check-raises the K♦ J♣ T♠ flop off a short stack, then jams the 8♦ turn.

Haverkamp snap-calls with A♣ Q♦ for the flopped broadway straight and Hoefer is drawing dead with the K♠ 9♦ for top pair to make the 9♥ river a formality.

"I should have gone all-in preflop," Paul Hoefer sighs when he bet-folds the river for nearly half his stack and is left on fewer than 20 big blinds. He then adds it was a three-bet pot on which the board shows A♦ 9♦ 3♥ T♣ K♠ . Hoefer bets 190,000 and Sho Homma jams to force a fold from his table neighbour, with Homma exposing the Q♠ .

In the next hand, Jhon Hendri jams for 171,000 and Homma calls with the 7♠ 7♥. Hendri laughs as he exposes the dominated 2♥ 2♣ , which fails to improve on the Q♦ T♦ 4♦ 4♥ 3♥ board.

Catching the action on the turn A♥ J♠ T♦ 7♠ with 86,000 already in the pot. Paul Hoefer bets near half for 42,000 and Lynn Gilmartin calls. This brings them to the river 5♥ and Gilmartin checks, Hoefer fires 62,000, Gilmartin gives up her hand.

Artem "veeea" Vezhenkov arrives at his new table with two racks and a stack worth nearly seven figures. Paul Hoefer then raises to 10,000 only for Vezhenkov to three-bet big to 40,000. The four-bet shove by Hoefer follows and Vezhenkov calls with the A♠ Q♠ .

Hoefer is in trouble with A♥ J♥ but improves on every street equity wise on the Q♥ T♠ 4♥ K♣ 8♥ runout. The double is for 247,500 and that puts quite a dent into Vezhenkov's stack.

"Of course I know who he is, otherwise I would not have done it," Hoefer clarifies.

WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin is sitting on a very healthy stack and fuels in a bit more in a hand against Paul Hoefer. From cutoff, Gilmartin opens for 11,000, Hoefer defends the small blind, then Gilmartin continues for another 11,000 on the flop 5♥ Q♦ 7♣ . After the call, Gilmartin fires a larger 25,000 on the turn 3♠ and this time Hoefer backs down.

Shmuel Bechor three-bets out of the small blind and earns a call from Paul Hoefer. Following a K♣ J♠ 5♦ flop, Bechor continues for 19,000 and Hoefer comes along. On the 7♠ turn, Bechor motions for the all-in triangle and Hoefer snap-folds.
