The third edition of the Won Poker Cup completed its first of four Main Event flights with 70 turning up for Day 1A. Among the contenders were well known pros such as Bien Mai, Martin Gonzales, Dhaval Mudgal, Kyle Bao Diep, and Khayal Abbasov to mention a few. By the time ITM was reached, with only 9 players securing a piece of the $600,0000 guaranteed prize pool, at the top of the list was Taiwan's Jian Lin, a newcomer to the festival. Lin bagged up 526,000 (65 bb) and set the standard for the next flight.

Action escalated preflop with a three-way all-in. Tu Xungang, the shortest stack, moved all in for 17,000. Chee Hoong followed with 39,000, and Viet An Nguyen, having both players covered, called to put them at risk.

Chee Hoong flopped top pair with his ace and held through the runout. Tu Xungang picked up a pair on the river, but it wasn’t enough to survive.

With that, Tu Xungang was eliminated as the bubble, and the remaining 9 players are now officially in the money.

With 10 players remaining, we’ve officially reached the bubble. Only the top 9 will make the money, so the next elimination will leave one player empty-handed.

Following three days of pre-games, the Won Poker Cup III Main Event kicks off today at the Won Majestic Casino. This edition features a hefty $600,000 guaranteed prize pool, with four starting flights and a $1,320 buy-in.

Looking back, the inaugural Won Poker Cup in July 2024 featured a $500,000 guaranteed Main Event, which was won by China’s Hong Ke in a field of 404 entries. Australia’s Armon Van Wijk finished as runner-up.

In late November 2024, the second edition saw an increased Main Event guarantee to $600,000. Irish player Henri Hinds defeated Vietnam’s Mai Bien in a field of 361 entries for a top prize of $117,000. Hinds was also awarded the W Ring for his victory.

Entering players begins with a 30,000 stack which is 300 times the opening blinds. Levels go up every 30 minutes and play down to ITM of 15% of the field.
