By the skin of his teeth, Victor Chong secured a seat at the High Roller 6-Max final table.

With just one bust needed to form it, Chong lost a shove against. William Jia to drop to 1 bb. He then tossed it in with J♣ 2♥, landed two-pair on a board 8♠ J♠ 6♦ 2♦ T♥ to overcome Khoi Nguyen’s Q♥ Q♠ and Nguyen Trung Chien’s T♦ 2♠ lower two pair.

Not the case though for Tommy Kemter with A♣ K♦ unable to improve to fall to Dao Minh Phu’s T♥ T♠ . Kemter finished in 8th place, one spot shy of the final table.

Down to 11 players at the High Roller 6-Max, Tommy Kemter earned a big pot. He opened then bet every street on a board 3♥ K♠ 5♥ 3♠ 3♦ , Dao Minh Phu check-called it down then mucked to K♥ T♥ full house.

After the High Roller 6-Max bubble burst, the final 18 players raced for a spot at the final table with just 7 seats available. Among the casualties was Ryan Hong who lost the flip against William Jia with K♥ Q♥ two pair behind T♠ T♦ full house on board J♣ J♥ 7♠ T♥ K♠ . Hong exited 15th.

Other fallouts were Vu Minh Duc ad Jun Li. For Vu, called Khoi Nguyen's four-bet and missed the mark with A♠ J♦ on board T♥ 7♦ 2♣ 7♣ 9♥ to fall to Q♦ Q♥ . Vu finished 13th. Li was dominated out of the running in 12th place by Pham Thanh Nghia's K♦ K♠ higher pocket pair againt 3♠ 3♦ .

One of the most exciting side events was Run It Twice where players have the option of running the board again in hopes of changing the first outcome. The event wrapped up with Nguyen Tan Phuong securing his first win and a payout of VN₫ 63,000,000 (~US$ 2,565).

"Wow I feel so good nothing beats the feeling, I finally did it! This is my first USOP high roller win after three series."

At the start of the final table, Nguyen entered as chip leader and eventual runner-up Anton Johnson was close behind. That quickly switched as Johnson bulldozed through, picking up numerous pots to distance himself from the pack. Nguyen said,

"In the beginning he (Anton Johnson) picked up plenty of big pots and became the chip leader but the good thing was, he plays many hands almost every hand, and I knew everyone was just waiting for a chance to catch him."

After Nguyen eliminated Duy Tung Nguyen in 3rd place, he entered heads up with a slight lead against Johnson. That quickly vanished with Johnson continuing his aggressive plays until Nguyen laid a trap and dragged in a big pot to retake the lead.

"For me, I was patiently waiting to pick up some good spots and I decided I will get more value when i catch his bluff. So every time I got a good hand, I stayed low and waited for it and finally I did it. I caught him bluffing in the final hands.

Several hands later, with Nguyen at 56 bb and Johnson with 32 bb, the final hand was tabled. Once again, the trap was laid and Johnson took the bait. Johnson shoved the river with air for Nguyen to seize victory with a full house.

At the Mini Main Event Day 1A, two big stacks were seen in a clash with Dao Minh Phu shipping a massive 241 big blind pot for the lead.

Action began with a three bet pot revealing flop 3♠ 5♣ T♣ . Checked to aggressor Nguyen Khoi, he continued for 9,000 and proceeded to call off his entire 58,000 stack after initial raiser Dao Minh Phu check raised all-in. Dao is behind with K♠ 5♠ against Nguyen's top pair J♠ T♦ , but luckily spiked a runner runner flush on runout 2♠ 9♠ to lock in the win. Dao rises as the chip leader just right before the second break of the day with Nguyen heading out early.
