Action resumed at LES A Casino for The Dragon Awakening Day 2 at the RDPT PLUS 2026 with 41 players returning to the field. After intense play, it was China's Weijue Cai standing still for the glory of the opening event, putting on the RDPT champion's jacket.

This event attracted a field of 269 entries across two starting flights on Day 1, creating a KRW 348,624,000 (~USD 234,665) prize pool with just 41 players paid.

The day's frontrunner, Tien Thanh Nguyen of Vietnam, eventually bowed out of the field in fourth place for a payout of KRW 24,120,000 (~USD 16,240).

Nguyen entered the final table with the third-shortest stack. He tried to grind deep and collected his sole elimination, Ting Pong Cheung. Nguyen open-jammed, and Cheung called for his last chips. Nguyen held the advantage throughout, pairing his jack on the flop and improving to trip jacks on the river, cracking Cheung’s king-high, who finished in fifth place for KRW 17,260,000 (~USD 11,620).

Even though Nguyen managed a double-up through Shuang Qiu with a flopped flush, his final chapter came when his ace-eight found no help on the board against Weijue Cai’s ace-jack, which outkicked Nguyen to finish him in fourth place.

Final Table Bubble Boy

Since the beginning of the day, the field has thinned at a turbo pace. After nearly four hours of play, the battlefield was down to the final ten. The player to burst the final table bubble was China’s Jun Zhang, who called off his short stack from the big blind when facing Wenqing Dong’s jam from the small blind.

Zhang’s king-deuce took the lead early and extended his advantage with a deuce on the flop against Dong’s queen-jack. However, the poker gods quickly switched sides when a queen landed on the turn, shifting the lead back to Dong.

With the river running dry, Zhang hit the rail and exited the field with the title of Final Table Bubble Boy.

Final Table Action

The chip leader at the start of the Final Table was China’s Shuang Qiu, whose momentum ignited early in the day. His run surged further when the field was down to the final 16 players. Qiu quickly staked Weihong Liu in 15th with a rivered flush in a three-way pot, then sent Hongwei Yang out in 14th and Tingjia Cao in 13th in back-to-back hands, boosting his stack to nearly 2 million chips. There was still no slowing down for Qiu, as the next victim to fall to him was Chuan Shu Chen, whose pocket tens were ruthlessly cracked by Qiu’s cowboys.

Qiu held the chip lead for a long stretch at the final table, showing no signs of slowing as he collected two more eliminations, including Yang Yang with king-high and Tenglong Chen with rivered quad sevens.

However, Qiu met his Waterloo in a hand against Cai, who caught his river bluff shove with a flopped flush, snapped the chip lead, and never let go from that point on. From then on, the poker gods seemed to have made up their minds as Qiu’s momentum stalled, not even sparking an ember.

On the other hand, Cai’s relentless effort to grind his short stack paid off. He started the final table with the second-shortest stack and managed two crucial double-ups with pocket sixes to beat Dong’s jack-high and with ace-high to best Chen’s queen-high, putting himself back in contention before eventually taking the chip lead from Qiu.

He continued grinding steadily on the way to heads-up play, where he held a dominant chip advantage against Qiu and finished the match within ten hands. In the final duel, his preflop three-bet forced Qiu to four-bet shove, and Cai made the call.

Cai tabled Big Slick to overtake king-high from Qui, capping off his victorious night in style.

Day 2 of The Dragon Awakening takes place today at the luxurious venue, LES A Casino. After yesterday’s action-packed play across two starting flights, the tournament attracted a total of 269 entries, generating a prize pool of KRW 348,624,000 (~ USD 234,832).

With the strong turnout, just 41 survivors remain in contention, all locked up a minimum payday of KRW 3,070,000 (~USD 2,068) while competing for the top prize of KRW 76,484,000 (~USD 51,519) and the glory.

In addition to the cash prize, the champion will also receive the RDPT Champion's jacket, one of the tournament’s signature awards.
