Haha The first of twelve flights for the Poker Dream 23 Taiwan Main Event wrapped up, drawing 67 entries to kick off the chase for the Golden Dragon Trophy and TWD 25,000,000 prize pool.

After a full day of action, only seven players remained, each securing a seat into Day 2 and a guaranteed share of the pie.

A tightly contested race for the overnight chip lead unfolded in the closing stages. Taiwan's I-Chieh Sun narrowly edged Philippine's Billy Alfonso at bagging time after delivering a bad beat on the bubble. Sun finished atop the counts with 367,000 (46 big blinds), just 2,000 chips clear of Alfonso's 365,000 (45 big blinds).

Also advancing to Day 2 were Hao Xuan Wan (218,000), Ka Yu Yeung (170,000), Shan Wang (103,000), Kuan Ting Yeh (81,000), and Shen Yuan-Yang (37,000), all returning with hopes of building toward the Main Event title.

Among those that missed the mark or have yet to take their seat, the Main Event continues at Win Win Poker with 11 flights across the next three days.

Two buy-in tiers are on offer: TWD 18,000 (~USD 570) for the standard 10% ITM flights, and TWD 27,000 (~USD 850) for the enhanced 15% ITM flights that give players both a better shot at the money and the widest path to Day 2.

Also, players who have already secured a Day 2 berth still have plenty to play for. By entering subsequent starting flights, they remain eligible for the Dream Bonus, which rewards players who successfully bag multiple Day 2 stacks. Only their largest stack will carry forward, while every additional qualifying stack earns a Dream Bonus payout, adding extra incentive to return to the felt.

Ku fired again, a much larger 3,200 bet onto a pot of 4,800. This did little to scare Hong who called once again. The 2♣ river completed the board.

Ku slowed down and checked only to be pressured with a jam from Hong. Ku had the covering stack but not by much. After using up a time chip, Ku elected to call then saw the bad news. Hong was not bluffing.
