Main Event (1,600,000 KRW)

The first of 11 starting flights has concluded here at the Poker Dream Jeju 16 Main Event hosted at Jeju Shinhwa Landing Casino in Jeju Island, South Korea. Day 1a attracted 71 entrants and by the end of the night just 9 players remained.

Changmin Zhu finished with the Day 1a chip lead after bagging 440,000 chips. Zhu is most closely followed by Biao Guo (270,000) while Sun Qi rounds out the top three with 247,000.

Day 1b is currently underway at the time of writing while two more starting flights are scheduled tomorrow. Day 1c starts at 1:00 p.m. local time with a buy-in of KRW 2,400,000 (~1,700 USD) and 40-minute levels. Later that evening at 7:00 p.m. Day 1d takes place, featuring the same structure as Flight A with 30 minute levels and a buy-in of KRW 1,600,000 (~USD 1,100).

Bin Leng opened to 9,000 from the hijack and received calls from Changmin Zhu in the cutoff and Quan Jin on the button.

The flop came Q♥ 3♠ 2♦ and action checked around to Zhu who bet 13,000. Both opponents called.

All three players checked the 6♠ turn leading to the K♠ river. Action checked around to Zhu who bet 40,000 and both opponents folded.

Seng Mok Jo opened to 6,000 from the button and Changmin Zhu three-bet to 15,000 from the big blind. Jo made the call.

The flop came 4♥ 4♦ A♣ and Zhu check-called a 13,000 bet from Jo.

Both players checked the 5♥ turn leading to the K♥ river. Zhu shoved with a covering stack and Jo folded leaving 47,000 behind.

Changmin Zhu opened to 4,000 from the hijack and received two callers including Jiaxin Wang in the cutoff.

The flop came 4♠ 3♦ J♥ and action checked around to Zhu who bet 6,000. Only Wang called.

On the 6♦ turn Zhu check-folded to a 12,000 bet from Wang.

Quan Jin opened to 2,500 from the hijack and received two callers including Changmin Zhu on the button.

All three players checked the T♣ J♥ J♠ flop leading to the Q♣ turn. Action checked around to Jin who bet 7,500 and only Zhu called.

On the A♠ river Jin check-folded to a 30,000 bet from Zhu.

With two players seeing a board of 2♦ 9♠ Q♦ 9♥ 4♥ and 26,200 in the middle Changmin Zhu checked from the small blind and Qi Sun bet 18,000 from the big blind. Zhu called.

Sun only had king-high with K♦ T♠ while Zhu showed Q♥ J♣ for two pair to win the pot.

With two players seeing a board of 8♣ 7♣ 5♣ and 15,000 in the middle Chin Yu Lim shoved for 17,400 from under the gun and Changmin Zhu called from the hijack with a covering stack.

Zhu had a flush draw but was drawing nearly dead against Lim’s pocket aces and nut-flush draw. Lim remained ahead when the rest of the board ran out J♣ A♦ to double up.

In a preflop confrontation William Jia was all in from the cutoff for 21,900 and up against Changmin Zhu who covered him.

Jia failed to connect with his overcards on the 5♥ T♣ 4♠ 3♣ K♥ runout and was eliminated by Zhu.

Zijie Lu opened to 1,200 from under the gun and received three callers including Jiahao Zhang on the button and Changmin Zhu in the big blind.

All four players checked the 2♦ ah T♠ flop leading to the 7♣ turn. Action the nchecked around to Lu who bet 3,600. Only Zhang and Zhu called.

On the 6♣ river Zhu bet 6,000. Lu used a time bank before calling while Zhang got out of the way.

Zhu turned over 9♣ 8♦ for a rivered straight and Lu mucked.

Nicholas Michael Ng Yi Wen opened to 1,500 from under the gun, Siyoung Lee three-bet to 4,500 from the button, Changmin Zhu called from the small blind and Wen four-bet shoved for 25,100. Lee called with his stack of 21,500 and Zhu got out of the way.

The board ran out 2♣ 4♣ 3♥ 5♦ 3♦ giving Lee a wheel straight to double up through Wen.

Changmin Zhu limped in from the cutoff, a player on the button raised to 500, Ji Ho Lam called in the small blind and a player in the big blind called.

The flop came 6♥ 8♥ J♠ and action checked around to Zhu who bet 700. Only Lam called.

Zhu continued for 2,200 when checked to on the 8♣ turn and Lam folded.
