Gantumur Holds on With Cowboys

Tuguldur Gantumur opened to 30,000 from early position and was called by Song Li in the small blind and Jiaqi He in the big blind for a three-way pot.

The flop came 2♠ J♠ 2♥ and action checked to Gantumur, who continued for a bet of 60,000. Li called, but He got out of the way.

Li checked again on the 4♦ turn and Gantumur kept his foot on the gas for 115,000. Li tossed in a couple of time extensions and then min-raised to 230,000. Gantumur pondered a bit before calling.

Both players decided to check on the 6♥ river and Li could only show Q♠ T♠ for a stone bluff.

Gantumur let out a "Phew!" before tabling K♦ K♠ to claim the pot.

"Go all in, I fold!" Gantumur said as he collected the pot.

Rene von Reden, who won the APT Main Event just a few months ago in Taipei, is testing himself in the National Cup.

Von Reden won the TWD 14,413,200 (~USD 453,960) top prize, which at the time was the largest ever awarded in Taiwan. That record didn't stand for long, though, as the insanity of the APT Championship Main Event came along and set new records in multiple categories.

Germany's Von Reden started the day with 367,000 in chips, but has lost a little and currently has around 230,000.

After less than an hour's play, 34 people have hit the rail, and just 63 remain.

Emad Zarghami opened to 20,000 from under the gun and a short-stacked Jin Zhi Huang shoved for his remaining 36,000 on the button. Xuezhi Pu then confirmed if Zarghami would be able to reopen the action if he called before deciding to make the call in the big blind.

Zarghami did, in fact, reopen the action by shoving all in for approximately 115,000 total. Pu announced a call to put Zarghami at risk and a three-way showdown was held.

APT National Cup Smashes Guarantee as Final Day Begins Today

The 20th anniversary of the Asian Poker Tour has been set in motion by the highly participated APT National Cup, currently underway at Les A Casino inside the luxurious Jeju Shinhwa World.

After the completion of three starting flights, the APT National Cup Final Day is set to begin at 11:15 AM (KST). The event has comfortably surpassed its initial guaranteed prize pool of KRW 200,000,000 (~USD 143,000) and now boasts a hefty total prize pool of KRW 486,804,384 (~USD 341,620).

From a field of 690 entries (384 unique players), 97 players remain for today’s Final Day, each already assured KRW 1,340,000 (~USD 940) while setting their sights on the KRW 93,844,384 (~USD 65,855) top prize.

Flight A featured eighteen levels of play and attracted 200 entries, producing the event’s early frontrunners. India’s Vishal Ojha, the Flight A chip leader, bagged 575,000 chips to sit atop the overall chip counts. He is closely followed by Mongolia’s Tuguldur Gantumur with 559,000, and China’s Xiongfeng Chen with 558,000, completing the current podium positions.

Flight B, played over twenty 20-minute levels, drew the largest field with 283 entries, pushing the event well past its guarantee. China’s Yang Gang Zo topped the flight with 557,000 chips, placing him fourth overall. Compatriots Wei Hong Liu (535,000) and Zu You Wang (494,000) finished second and third in the flight and currently sit fifth and eighth overall, respectively.

The final starting flight, Flight C, was contested across twenty-one 15-minute levels and attracted 207 entries. China’s Yi Qin led the flight with 505,000 chips, good for sixth overall. Fellow countrymen Song Li (500,000) and APT Incheon 2025 Main Event winner Junjie He (466,000) finished second and third in the flight, placing seventh and ninth overall.
