Renato Villanueva Jr.The opening event of APPT Manila 2026 has crowned its champion, with Renato Villanueva Jr. topping a stacked final table to capture the Okada Kickoff title at Cove Manila, Okada Manila. The Filipino veteran defeated Japan's Kohei Takami heads-up to secure the trophy, an APPT Championship 2026 package, and the PHP 820,184 (~USD 13,340) top prize.

According to The Hendon Mob, he now sits with well over $300,000 in career earnings, with his previous career-best coming at APL Manila in February 2025, where he finished 5th in the Main Event for PHP 2,191,000 (~USD 26,800).

Okada Kickoff Final TableTakami set the early pace at the final table, eliminating Michael Villanueva in 9th place when his pocket kings survived a straight draw from Villanueva's ace-nine. Takami continued his run by sending Gwanghui Ye to the rail in 8th place, his pocket sixes turning a set to leave Ye drawing dead, before adding Federick Cruz in 7th place, rivering a king to overtake Cruz's ace-five.
Federick Cruz (7th) started the day as chip leader. Wendell Barte fell in 5th place at Takami's hands as well, with a set of nines proving too strong for Barte's flopped top pair and flush draw. Joseph Erickson exited in 4th place shortly after, his king-jack unable to catch up to Rex Luriosa's paired nine.
Villanueva Jr. then took over the eliminations, sending Jansen Tiu out in 6th place when a river ace paired both hands, but Villanueva Jr.'s kicker was good. He struck again in 3rd place, his pocket queens holding against Luriosa's ace-nine shove to close out three-handed play and set up heads-up action.
Rex Luriosa (3rd)Villanueva Jr. began heads-up with a slight chip lead over Takami, and after the pair discussed and ultimately passed on an ICM deal, played on for the trophy. The final hand saw Takami's shove with trip aces met by an instant call from Villanueva Jr., whose ace-ten had improved to a full house, sealing the title.

Federick CruzDespite a brief slip from pole position earlier, start-of-day chip leader Federick Cruz is firmly back at the top, sitting on a commanding 840,000 chips, over triple the average stack.

Akshaya KothariThe action was joined at Table 23 with Raymond Mondala and Akshaya Kothari tangling in a pot of around 130,000, with a board reading A♠4♠A♦ A♣. Kothari had bet 22,000 on the turn and 42,000 when the dealer peeled off the 3♠river card.
Mondala had check-called both times, with Kothari flicking over A♥ 5♥ for a dream runout, turning quads. Mondala showed pocket kings K♠K♣ for a brutal cooler.
"That's why I was being aggressive." Kothari said.
The next hand saw Jesus Viloria get his remaining 64,000 in from under the gun and Jansen Tiu called from a couple of seats over.
Jesus Viloria: K♦ Jâ™
Jansen Tiu: A♥ A♦
Viloria needed some serious help to survive Tiu's bullets, but little came on the 2♠Q♦ 7♣ flop, nor the 9♠A♠runout, giving Tiu a set to add insult to injury. Viloria had essentially left the tournament area before the river had even been tabled, though.

Gwanghui YeMartin Astorga jammed his last 77,000 chips from early position and was called only by small blind Gwanghui Ye.
Martin Astorga: A♦ 5♣
Gwanghui Ye: A♣ T♦
Astorga was behind with his kicker and trailed even further when the T♥ 8♣ 2♠flop gave Ye top pair.
The 9♣ 7♦ runout changed nothing, and Astorga was on his feet before the river had been dealt, heading to the rail in 59th place.

Kim EnriquezButton Richard Marquez opened to 16,000 before being three-bet to 47,000 by Kim Enriquez, who won the last Okada Manila Millions Main Event, in the small blind. Marquez tanked for a while, using a timebank, before flashing A♦ as he mucked.
Ivan Tan then shoved in the next hand from under the gun for 60,000 and collected the blinds.
Enriquez then opened to 16,000 from the cutoff and big blind Tan called.
Both checked the 7♠7♥ 2♦ flop to the 3♣ turn, where Tan check-called Enriquez's 7,000 bet. On the 9♠river, Tan checked once more before folding when Enriquez upped it to 30,000.

Joungsun KimWonjin Lee opened the period of action at Table 19 with a shove for his remaining 70,000. Despite some interest from table chip leader Joungsun Kim in the big blind, he found no customers.
The second hand saw cutoff Joseph Erickson raise to 12,000 and receive calls from blinds Kim and start-of-day overall chip leader Federick Cruz.
On the 5♣ 5♠T♠flop, Kim led for 5,000, prompting a fold from Cruz, before Erickson raised to 26,000, which received a call.
Both players checked the remainder of the 3♣ 2♥ runout, where Kim turned over Q♦ T♦ for top pair, good for the pot as Erickson sent his cards into the muck.
Kim has almost doubled his starting stack during the first two levels today.

Jose CheungThe action was joined on a flop showing 4♠4♣ 7♥. Following Jose Cheung's check from the small blind, Michael Concepcion had bet 20,000 into a pot of around 65,000. Cheung then check-shoved for his remaining 42,000 and Concepcion put in the call, and cards went on their backs:
Jose Cheung: 8♦ 8♥
Michael Concepcion: A♦ Tâ™
Concepcion's overcards to the board couldn't connect on the 2♠7♦ runout, keeping Cheung alive with a pair of eights and securing a massive pot.
