Edilberto GopezThe PokerStars Red Dragon has reached its final table. The event closed registration with 579 entries, comfortably surpassing last year's 433-entry field and generating a PHP 25,012,800 (~USD 408,000) prize pool, nearly doubling the PHP 15,000,000 (~USD 245,000) guarantee.
Leading the way into the final nine is the Philippines' Edilberto Gopez, who bagged 3,330,000. China's Yuanning Wu, the 2023 APPT Manila Main Event champion, sits close behind with 3,290,000, with Australia's Edwards Lawford completing the top three on 3,040,000. At the back of the pack is Australia's Emmanuel Derecho, who returns with just 505,000 to work with.

Final TableThe day began with South Korea's Chulwoo Park in the chip lead after bagging 732,000 overnight, but his hold on the top spot didn't last. Park's top set of aces was cracked by a rivered flush from Sumay Mishra, and he never recovered, eventually busting in 32nd place, one elimination short of the next pay jump.
Wu took full advantage, steadily building through the field to become the first player past one million, then the first past two million, en route to a commanding stack heading into the final table.
Yuanning WuJames Davidson also had a say in the chip counts, scooping the tournament's biggest pot to that point with a runner-runner flush to eliminate Doyeon Kim, though he would later fall himself in 13th place. Gopez put together his own surge, highlighted by a monster double through Anacleto Quijano's kings with pocket aces, a pot worth over a million chips, before closing out the day at the top of the counts.
The most dramatic swing came from Naoaki Ishihara. Down to a short stack after losing the bulk of his chips when he rivered a straight only to find Gopez had turned a full house, Ishihara got the rest in and found himself in a three-way all-in with Gopez and chip leader Wu also involved. He survived in some style, tripling up with ace-five after two fives landed on the board to give him trips, keeping his tournament dreams alive.
Naoaki IshiharaThe stretch run saw a flurry of knockouts as the field closed in on the final table. Siddarth Singhvi's late charge, built on a pair of successful blind steals, ended in 17th place when his ace-queen fell to Kim Giboum's pocket eights. Jason Ong followed in 16th, his ace-queen no match for Lawford's pocket queens, before Segundo Barte exited in 15th after his ace-king was cracked by Ishihara's turned two pair.
Patrick Clarke's strong run ended in 14th when his queen-jack ran into John Matsuda's kings, which improved to trips on the turn. One place later, Davidson's ace-jack fell to Gopez's pocket kings in 13th, continuing the Filipino's charge toward the top of the counts.
James DavidsonThe final table bubble burst when Kyunghwan Lee committed the bulk of his stack with a raise, only for Czardy Rivera to instantly move all in from the big blind. Lee made the call with jack-ten, finding himself well behind Rivera's ace-king of diamonds. Rivera paired his ace and picked up the nut flush draw on the flop, and although Lee's straight draw kept him alive through the turn, the river completed Rivera's flush, ending Lee's run in 10th place and setting the final nine for tomorrow.
Play resumes tomorrow at 12:00 PM local time, when the remaining nine players return to play down to a PokerStars Red Dragon champion.

Stay tuned for the Day 2 recap and the official chip counts of the remaining nine players as they return tomorrow to battle for the title.
Kyunghwan Lee and Czardy RiveraFolded to the small blind, Kyunghwan Lee committed most of his stack with a raise to 500,000, only to receive bad news as Czardy Rivera instantly announced all in from the big blind.
Lee made the call, putting his remaining 590,000 chips at risk.
Kyunghwan Lee: J♥ T♦
Czardy Rivera: A♦ K♦
Rivera connected immediately on the A♠9♦ 7♦ flop, pairing his ace while picking up the nut flush draw. Lee still had life with a straight draw, and the Q♠turn added even more outs.
Instead, the 6♦ river completed Rivera's nut flush, ending Lee's tournament run in 10th place.
With Lee's elimination, Day 2 officially came to a close, leaving the final nine players to return tomorrow to battle for the PokerStars Red Dragon title.

Kasuga DaiAfter seeing his top set of aces cracked by a river flush earlier, Chulwoo Park was left with just 171,000 and moved all in from under the gun. On the button, Kasuga Dai reshoved, forcing the rest of the table out of the pot.
Chulwoo Park: K♣ Q♦
Kasuga Dai: A♦ K♦
Park was dominated and this time there would be no miracle. The board ran 7♥ 6♣ 2♥ T♥ 2♣, allowing Dai's ace-high to remain best and sending the former chip leader to the rail.
It marked a heartbreaking turnaround for Park, who began Day 2 as the tournament chip leader after bagging 732,000 chips. Following a series of costly pots, including having top set cracked by a river flush, his run came to an end in 32nd place, falling just one elimination short of the next pay jump.

Emmanuel DerechoKim Doyeon raised from under the gun and received a call from button Giuseppe Biasella. Big blind Emmanuel Derecho then three-bet shoved his remaining 275,000, prompting a swift fold from Doyeon. Biasella tossed in the call and the two tabled their cards:
Emmanuel Derecho: Q♦ Q♥
Giuseppe Biasella: J♣ J♥
Derecho's queens held on the 9♥ 5♣ 7♣ flop, improving to a set on the Q♠turn, leaving Biasella drawing dead.
The inconsequential 2♣ river was peeled, and Biasella's chips were counted out, leaving him with around 15,000, around one big blind.

Park was ahead preflop, but the T♥ 5♠3♥ flop immediately swung the advantage to Rivera with top pair. The 6♥ turn changed nothing, leaving Park with one last chance to improve.
Instead, the K♦ river improved Rivera to two pair, sealing the knockout and sending Park to the rail.
With Park's elimination, the PokerStars Red Dragon field was officially reduced to the final four tables.

Park's pocket aces stayed firmly in front on the J♣ 4♠2♣ flop and improved even further when the A♣ landed on the turn, giving him top set and leaving Mishra on the verge of elimination.
However, Mishra still had a live flush draw. The 5♣ on the river completed his flush, earning him a massive double up and leaving Park visibly stunned.

Kasuga DaiSumay Mishra raised to 10,000 from middle position, which was called by hijack Kasuga Dai and small blind Fendy Kosasih. Big blind Rudy Edenata then squeezed to 40,000 and only Dai made the call.
The dealer fanned the 2♦ 2♣ A♠flop and Edenata peeked at his cards before checking. Dai fired 22,000 in before instantly facing a check-shove from Edenata and his covering stack, sending the Japanese player into the tank.
After a timebank and some strained looks, he eventually put in the call.
Kasuga Dai: A♦ J♣
Rudy Edenata: A♣ 7♥
Dai had made the correct call, and the remaining 8♦ 8♠runout was safe, giving him a huge boost to his stack in the early stages of the day.

John Clyde TanJohn Tan started the day as second in chips but clearly has his sights set on the top spot. He's chipped up by around 150,000 in the opening stages of the day.
Manuel Geronimo opened with a 10,000 raise from under the gun before folding to Tan's 28,000 three-bet.
The next hand saw cutoff Tan raise to 12,000 and Edwards Lawford defend his big blind. Lawford check-folded on the 6♦ 3♦ 9♣ flop when Tan fired 9,000.
Hijack Feras Elnatsha then open-jammed for 63,000 and collected the blinds.
Tan then raised to 10,000 once more, this time from the hijack, and big blind Kohei Takami made the call.
Takami check-called Tan's 10,000 continuation-bet on the 3♣ A♦ 5♥ flop. The action repeated on the 2♣ turn, this time for 25,000.
The A♠completed the board and Takami led for 80,000. The Japanese player had barely put the chips into the middle before Tan made the call, flicking over A♣ 4♣ for a turned straight, to the shock of the table. Takami showed K♦ J♥.

Third through fifth place will each earn a seat to the APPT Championship Main Event.
Chulwoo ParkSouth Korea's Chulwoo Park returns as the overall chip leader with 732,000 (146 big blinds), followed by the Philippines' John Clyde Tan on 496,000 (99 big blinds). Meanwhile, defending champion Justin Ong fired multiple bullets but failed to advance.
