Flight A of the APPT Championship ₱60M GTD is a wrap! At the end of the scheduled 11 levels of play, with each level running for 60 minutes each, only 47 players remained out of the 144 that entered.

Setting a very high bar for the next flight was Germany's David Sommer with a stack of 412,500 (275 bb). Sommer held the top spot during the last three levels of the day. In addition to knocking out multiple players that included cracking Czardy Rivera's kings, one of his stunning hands was tabling a straight with 3-4 suited over two players with top pair aces.

Also advancing with a healthy 120,000 (80 bb) stack was Vietnam’s Trong Hieu Ngo, the event’s reigning champion. Joining him into Day 2 is 2025 APPT Manila Main Event champion Justin Ong, who jumped to an early advantage then took a hit after a failed bluff against Japan's John Matsuda. This boosted Matsuda into second rank with 350,500 (233 bb) while Ong closed with 153,000 (102 bb).

Other APPT champions moving forward include Alexander Puchalski (Cambodia 2022), Christopher Mateo (Cambodia 2024), Hai Ha Tran (Cambodia 2025), and newly crowned APPT Open champion Tak Sin Alex Chong.

Action resumes tomorrow, Friday, October 24 for Flight B. This will be the last chance to enter. Somuchpoker will return with updates throughout the day starting at 12PM.

Three-way preflop ballooned the pot to 18,000 with more getting dumped in on a flop 9♠ 6♠ 8♦ . Starting with small blind aggressor Craig Jones, he bet 8,000, big blind Seunghyuk Jung raised 25,000, David Sommer three-bet 40,000, then back to Jones who tanked before firing 105,000. This was enough to cover Jung's stack while Sommer got out of the way.

Jones flipped over 8♠ 8♥ set, Jung had the nuts with T♥ 7♥ . Jones still had outs for the boat but the board refused to give in turning a runner runner 5♦ and Q♠ .

One orbit since their last meeting, John Matsuda claimed more chips off Justin Ong on a battle of the blinds. Matsuda opened for 4000 and Ong wanted to play. At the flop ts 4♥ 6♠ , Ong led for 4000 and Matsuda check-called. After they both stayed friendly on the turn K♥ , Matsuda came out with a 14,500 bet, Ong asked a series of questions "What do you have? You missed your flush? You have the king? If you have the king you would have bet the turn I think. " Then called. Indeed Masuda had top pair showing K♦ Q♠ .

John Matsuda opened from the button then called small blind Justin Ong's three-bet. Throughout the board K♥ 5♠ 7♦ T♣ A♠ , Ong continued on both the flop and turn with Matsuda calling each street to swell the pot to 71,500 by the river. Ong made one final bet for 51,000, Matsuda still didn't let go. Ong tabled J♦ 9♦ bluff to send the pot Matsuda's way with K♣ J♥ .

Seiji Kikuoka was all in on a board Q♣ A♠ Q♠ with the stone cold nuts Q♥ Q♦ quads however, his challenger Kaoru Kishimoto, though bleak, still had outs with K♠ J♠ for the straight flush. The turn J♣ and 7♥ were not it for a Kikuoka to double through.

Marco Espela raised 3000 then tanked to Emmanuel Segismundo's 41,000 shove. Despite having Segismundo well covered, it took some time for Espela to decide to call and was ahead A♣ T♣ . Segismundo was sweating it with A♦ 5♥ . When the board ran K♥ 7♦ 6♠ 6♦ K♦ , Segismundo celebrated the chop and having made an extra big blind while Espela shook his head in disbelief.

On a board 4♦ 4♠ 2♣ 7♥ 7♦ Joshua Figuerres was all in and Sumay Mishra was stumped. After a minute or so, Mishra called and mucked to the Q♣ Q♦ . Per rules that all-in must show, Mishra had pocket Nines. He dropped to 5 bb and busted on the next hand.

In a four-way look at the flop T♣ 5♣ 5♦ , Seiji Kikuoka checked, Christian Lortie bet 4500, Junho Hyeon raise 11,000, then Bernard Vu jammed for 17,300. This was enough to induce two folds while Hyeon made the quick call.

Upon revealing, Vu was in bad shape with J♦ T♠ top pair behind Hyeon's Q♦ Q♥ . The turn Q♠ sealed Vu's fate as he was drawing dead.

Edilberto Gopez and Vincent Chauve were both vying for a pot that grew to 19,000 before the flop. Gopez took a chance for 6000 on a board showing 6♠ Q♣ 5♦ and Chauve called to see what fourth street had to bring. When it came 4♦ , both players ramped up the aggression.

Gopez fired 21,000, Chauve tanked then check-raised all-in. In a snap, Gopez folded.

Rudy Edenata was dealt 9♥ 9♠ and was fearless against raiser Marco Espela and re-raiser Emmanuel Segismundo who bet 11,000. Edenata went all in for his last 17,000. Espela toyed with possibly calling but with Segismundo to follow he folded instead. Segismundo fast-called and had T♦ T♥ . No miracle or scares came on the board A♣ 2♠ 4♣ K♦ A♥ .

Having just been moved to a new table, Fendy Kosasih was nearly out in a dramatic board. All in for his last 19,300 with A♦ J♣ that was called by Juyeol Lee with A♣ T♦ , the flop came T♠ T♥ 8♥ to burn his lead. With only a 5% chance to retake it. That chance increased top 20% on the turn 9♥ with an open-ended that connected on the river 7♠ .

Christian Lortie-Cloutier was down to 33,400 when banked a double up off Justin Ong with A♠ J♥ dominating A♦ 4♦ throughout the board 6♥ K♥ T♣ 3♦ K♣ .

David Sommer is currently chip leading and added more to his arsenal against Fendy Kosasih and Hai Ha Tran. All three had built a pot of 22,300 on a board that completed A♦ J♣ 5♠ A♥ 2♦ . Tran bet bet first for 11,400, Kosasih raised 24,000, Sommer called, then Tran tanked then ultimately couldn't let go of his top pair. When they opened, Tran A♠ T♠ and Kosasih A♦ 8♦ were far behind Sommer's 3♦ 4♦ straight.

Czardy Rivera could not believe his bad luck that costed him all of his chips. It opened with a raise from Edilberto Gopez, three-bet from David Sommer for 9000, then Rivera jammed 42,000. Only Sommer made the call and Rivera was feeling good with K♠ K♦ with Gopez saying he folded an ace.

However, Rivera's moment turned sour when the flop ran 6♥ 7♥ A♠ with Sommer spiking one of his only two outs. The turn J♠ and river 5♠ sealed the win for Sommer.

Taiga Ishiwatari was dealt premiuum A♦ K♦ and gave it respect with a 2500 raise. Down the orbit, APPT Open champion Alex Chong looked down at Q♦ Q♥ and three-bet 7600. Decision back on Ishiwatari who went all in for 65,800 and Chong snap-called.

The Q♣ 4♦ T♣ flop quickly improved Chong while Ishiwatari was down to just four outs with a 16% win-rate. That apparently was all he needed with the turn J♣ producing one of the jacks for broadway. Chong still had outs - 23% to retake it but the 9♥ ruined his plans to pay the double up.

Kaoru Kishimoto defends his raise from Seiji Kikuoka 8500 to take the fight to the flop where the dealer fans A♣ 4♣ 4♦ . It's basic action with Kikuoka continuing for 3800 and Kishimoto making the call until the turn Q♠ brings a change up with Kishimoto pushing on top of Kikuoka's 15,700 bet. After some tanking, Kishimoto claims the pot uncontested.

With a massive pot of 45,200 built preflop, it was down to just two players, Daniel Lei and Edison Ang. From the small blind, Lei checked the board 2♣ 6♦ 9♠ then tank-called Ang's 15,000 bet. On the turn J♠ and river 9♣ , they both tapped felt. Lei showed 7♥ 6♥ for a winning two pair.

Karen Talamayan was hoping to scoop up Somashekar Mahadeva's chips, calling his shove with K♠ Q♣ on a board 5♠ 4♣ T♦ . However, Mahadeva's snowmen 8♣ 8♥ proved tough to crack as the turn and river T♠ and 8♠ ensured his win with a commanding full house. He is now back to starting stack while Talamayan dropped to near half stack.

With 24,400 in the pot and a board of T♥ 3♥ 7♣ T♣ before them, Youhyun Kim with Q♥ 8♥ and Ronald Haverkamp with A♥ K♥ were both searching for the flush. Kim bet 12,000 and Haverkamp paid to see the river produce 8♦ . Both checked and Haverkamp laughed at having lost to Kim's rivered pair.

Yordan Petrov min-raised from under the gun and four players joined for a big party headed down the streets. At the flop 4♥ 4♣ 7♥ , Petrov c-bet and nearly claimed the pot when big blind Seunghyuk Jung check-raised to 12,000. Petrov stopped in his tracks then made the call.

The turn then came 4♠ where Jung led out 17,000, Petrov called, and the 6♦ completed the spread. Again Jung bet, making it a lighter 15,000 to call. Petrov couldn't resist and saw the big hand T♦ 4♦ quads.

Mikhail Katkov opened 2000 from under the gun then called Eng Loong Choi's 6000 three-bet. Katkov spent another 8500, calling Choi's 8500 c-bet at the flop 4♠ 5♣ 2♥ . However, on the turn T♥ with Choi firing 21,500, Katkov folded while showing A♥ K♦ and told Choi "too much bet bro".

Julien Van and reigning champion Trong Hieu Ngo went pound for pound until all of their chips were committed. Van had A♠ K♣ and Hieu Ngo with A♣ K♥ . When the board ran 4♣ 6♥ J♣ 5♣ it gave Van a sweat while the champ chanted for a club however the river 5♠ came instead to split it up.

After an open from under the gun, it folded to the button Hogyun Kang who fired a three-bet of 6500. To his immediate left, small blind Daniel Lei also liked what he was dealt and four-bet to 15,500. Much too much, utg folded while Kang was willing to continue after a brief pause.

With the pot now heavy with 36 bigs, more came pouring in on a board that felted A♦ 6♠ T♣ with 8000 coming out of Lei's stack. Kang called again. This brought the 9♠ on the turn where Lei bet 12,000 onto a pot of 50,000 and this time Kang tossed his hand in the muck.

David Sommer is one of the biggest stacks at the start of the level and grinded in more after triple barreling starting preflop with a reraise of 6500 that Harry Halim called, then 4500 and 30,500 on the K♣ 3♣ 2♣ J♠ board. Halim couldn't handle the heat on the turn and folded.

Thomas Lee faced a 2200 raise from hijack player Gi Boum Kim and jammed his last 21,600. Two spots over on the big blind, William Ysmael quickly joined the shove-fest sending the decision back to Kim who tanked for a long time. Kim finally folded and said he had pocket Jacks.

When Ysmael revealed Q♦ Q♠ , Lee flipped over A♠ Q♣ and said, "why does my kicker have to be a queen?" But it proved to be very helpful as the board ran T♦ J♥ 3♥ 8♥ K♠ for broadway. Upon seeing the flop Kim was unhappy to have folded then quickly changed his mind for having preserved his chips.

After Waris Soontorn opened for 2200, action folded around to Michael Gabby Concepcion who jammed for 21,500. One player tanked then folded while Soontorn snapped it off and shows Q♦ J♠ . Concepcion was ahead with A♦ K♣ though not for long. The flop quickly improved Soontorn then ran out 3♥ 4♥ jc T♠ 7♣ to eliminate a shocked Concepcion.

On a board of 3♦ 3♥ 9♦ 2♣ with 7800 in the pot, big blind Kjetil Kemi continues to defend with a bet of 2500. From +1, Joshua Chargualaf raises to 8,100, Kemi calls after a lengthy tank. When the river comes Q♥ , Kemi backs down and checks, Chargualaf bloats the 24K pot with an overbet of 26,100, Kemi tanks again then makes the big call. It's the right one as Chargualaf is bluffing with A♦ K♣ . Kemi shows 9♣ 6♣ for a very gutsy hero call.

Andre Marcano opens then is joined by the blinds to build a pot of 7000. However when the flop comes Q♠ J♠ 2♥ , Marcano can't continue after his c-bet of 3000 gets check-raised by Daniel Lei to 8000 then three-bet by big blind Leo Kamiya to 18,000. Lei tank-calls.

Lei then checks the turn K♥ , Kamiya moves all in for 16,800, Kemi goes back to the tank again for much longer than previous then finds reason to call once more. Kamiya has T♠ 8♠ draw. Lei has Q♣ 7♥ second pair. The river J♣ doesn't improve Kamiya to get bounced out.

Following a raise from under the gun Youhyun Kim for 2000, everyone folds to the big blind Daehyung Lee and he defends with an 11,000 re-raise. Kim makes the call. Action moves to the flop 6♥ 6♠ 8♠ where Lee continues for 10,000 and again Kim calls.

The turn brings a face-card of K♦ which Lee seemed to like and fired 25,000. This didn't scare away Kim who called prompting Lee to check the river 2♥ . Kim checked back. Lee showed Q♥ Q♣ for the win. Kim had lower pockets.

Battle of who's in charge and who takes it down began with a raise from under the gun Ilsung Kwon for 2500 that was called by cutoff Edilberto Gopez. Two spots over, small blind Sriharsha Doddapaneni three-bets 11,000 and it's three-way to the flop with only the big blind getting out of the way.

Two taps open after a board comes 2♦ 3♥ 9♥ leaving it up to Gopez to decide. He bets 8000 which gets the preflop aggressor to fold while Kwon slides out the call. This bring a river 8♠ which is again checked by Kwon and bet by Gopez for 17,000. Kwon goes deep in the tank until he finally surrenders his hand to the muck.

Edgar Asehan has just been crowned the newest APPT Super High Roller champion! He defeated Miyoung Cho at heads up to seize the shard trophy and the ₱5,070,000 top prize. Congratualtions to Asehan for his triumph!

A battle of wills between aggressive players Gary Thompson and Youhyun Kim first opened with a raise of 1600 by Thompson at hijack. Next to act Daehyung Lee flatted, then button Kim made it 6800. Thompson fired back with a four-bet to 17,000. Lee let go and it was a bout with Kim not willing to back down for a call.

When the board landed Q♠ J♠ 5♥ , Thompson kept firing for 7000. Kim tested with a raise to 17,000, Thompson called. After all the heavy bets, both players opted to check the turn T♦ which then brought a river card of 6♠ . Thompson tanked then announced all-in, Kim snap-called and showed the nuts with A♠ 8♠ crushing Thompsons A♣ J♥ .

Abhijeet Shetty was down to around 12K+ and put it all on the line holding J♣ T♥ on a flop T♣ A♦ 4♣ . His nemesis Juyeol Lee had 7♣ 2♣ and called in hopes of drawing the flush. The turn T♦ further improved Shetty and was looking good to scoop a double until the river 9♣ awarded the flush to send him storming off in disappointment.

Cooler at Table 16 between Seungmin Yu and Seoyoung Kong that started off with a raise of 1600 from Yu. Kong fired back 5500 only to be returned with a four-bet shove. Kong wasted no time with a snap-call then showed K♦ K♠ . Yu had A♦ A♣ . No help arrived on a board Thursday 8♠ 7♣ J♥ A♥ .

Action-packed hand opened with an 2000 raise from under the gun Bernard Vu that button Christian Lortie-Cloutier called. Big blind Mikhail Katkov squeezed for 8800 hoping to take the pot right there but not the case with Vu and Cloutier both making the call.

With 27,300 in the pot, the flop 9♦ 4♥ Q♥ saw more action with Vu laying out 13,000, called by Cloutier while preflop aggressor Katkov stepped aside. More pressuring on the turn K♦ with Vu checking only to face a shove from Cloutier for 69,600.

Vu counted out the chips and could afford it but ultimately opted to relinquish his bid for the pot.

Hogyun Kang raises 18000 and only button Daniel Benor gives him action for a pot of 5600. The board lands all spades 3♠ 5♠ 7♠ and Kang slows down to a check, Benor takes the chance with a bet of 1600, then Kang springs a raise to 6000. Benor doesn't take the bait and proceeds to fold.

Joshua Figuerres opened the betting for 1600 then down the orbit on the button, Wanhee Kang three-bet 3000. Figuerres answered with a tank-push and Kang open-folded Q♣ Q♠ .

By the turn 6♥ Q♥ K♥ 3♣ , the pot had grown to 21,000 with Gi Boum Kim and William Ysmael looking to take it down. Ysmael checked it to Kim who fired 2/3 of the pot for 14,000 to continue. Ysmael gives it a thought then surrenders his hand to the muck.

Catching the action on a board showing 2♦ A♥ 3♥ T♦ J♣ and a pot of 22,200. Vincent Chauve is all in holding A♦ K♥ with 38,500 behind. Andrew Han is paying up with A♣ Q♥ and dropping to 13,000.

Catching the action with Waris Soontorn all-in for 34,600 and challenger Emmanuel Segismundo with a covering stack opens A♠ K♥ . When Soontorn shows A♥ Q♥ , the players seem confused. And after the board runs out ten-high, Soontorn busts while Segismundo scoops while commenting "that was weird, it seemed like aces".

Everyone folds to the button Gary Thompson, he raises with K♠ J♦ on hand and is denied the blinds and ante with both players defending. When the flop runs 8♦ T♥ Q♣ , Thompson has an open-ended and continues for 1600 and still the blinds - Youhyun Kim and Kjetil Kemi - both stick around to the turn 2♣ .

After they passed the option again to Thompson, he made it cost more with a 4200 bet laid out, and this time only Kim stayed in then both players checked the river K♥ .

First to act Kim flipped over Q♥ 5♥ , Thompson picked up the pot with K♠ J♦ higher pair that he spiked on the river.

The field has increased to 102 entries with registration wide open all day, closing at the start of Day 2. Listed below are some of the newcomers.

Already one of the biggest stacks in the room, Artem Utevskii fueled more in with J♣ J♥ dusting Fendy Kosasih's A♦ 6♥ that failed to improve on the King-high board.

Three players stare down a flop of A♦ A♣ 9♦ with 11,700 up for grabs. Two taps give Ilsung Kwon the go-ahead which he uses be slide out four pinks amounting to 4000. Edilberto Gopez check-calls as Leo Kamiya gets out of the way.

The turn 3♦ bloats the pot further with a bet of 7500 from Kwon that Gopez check-calls. When the board completes 8♠ on the river, one more check from Gopez is followed by a check from Kwon who proceeds to muck to Gopez's K♠ K♦ .

Youhyun Kim opened 1000 from hijack with Anton Iakimenko calling from cutoff. On the button, Seitaro Aso three-bet to 3500 however it still didn’t thin the field with big blind Kjetil Kemi also came along, making it a four-way pot.

After the flop landed 4♠ J♠ 6♦ , action erupted. First Kim led for 1500, Iakimenko raised to 7500, Seitaro called, and Kemi bowed out, then Kim then shoved for 31,000. Iakimenko reluctantly folded having to give up his 10.5K stake in the pot, while Seitaro made the call with a covering stack.

Kim revealed J♦ 4♦ for flopped two pair, Seitaro showed K♥ K♠ for the overpair. The turn 7♣ and river 5♠ changed nothing, securing Kim the double. Seitaro could only shake his head and question, “you call the three-bet?”

Suyoung Lee and Julien Van were engaged in a pot that grew to 14,000 by the turn 7♥ J♣ 3♣ T♣ . Both players opted to check for a free look at the river card 5♥ . Van checked again then folded to Lee's 15,000 bet.

Immediately following that hand, both players met again which started with a raise from Lee on the button for 1000. Small blind Van bumped it up to 3000, and off it was to the flop after Lee called. When the dealer spread 4♦ 5♣ 9♦ , Van continued for 3500 and Lee check-called.

On the 3♠ turn, action ignited with an open-shove from Van that Lee snap-called showing 7♦ 6♦ straight. Only a 7% chance for Van's gutshot to find its way to fifth street however it was not to be as the river came 2♦ to give him the boot.

Paul De Lisboa's preflop raise to 1200 was quickly challenged by Mikhail Katkov with a three-bet to 3700. Then two spots over at cutoff, Andy Graf barreled a four-bet of 10,000 which was good enough to take down the pot.

Four players have built a sizable 12,800 pot before the flop and more gets added in with Somashekar Mahadeva betting 5100 on a board K♠ Q♦ 4♣ . Wanhee Kang calls as the other two drop out. Mahadeva fires again for 12,000 on the turn card 3♦ and still Kang stays with him.

One final betting round, the river 5♣ sees Mahadeva push, sending Kang tanking with just 13,800 behind. After a minute, Kang goes for it. Mahadeva shows K♣ 7♣ top pair which is not enough to claim the pot as Kang proudly reveals K♥ 9♠ higher kicker.

What started as a three-way to the flop 5♠ 8♥ 5♦ with 5200 weighing down the middle, trimmed to heads-up with Juyeol Lee betting 1300 and only Oliver Lirio sticking around. On fourth street Q♣ , Lee continued the aggression with a bet of 2500 and again Lirio paid up to watch the J♣ find the river. Lee opted to change up and check, Lirio did the same then mucked to Lee's A♦ 8♠ .

With the board running 4♦ 4♣ 7♣ 7c K♣ , not only did aces hold, it also improved to a flush for a sweep as Seitaro thanked them for the chips.

Big pot of 32,500 brewed at Table 19 with two players remaining in the hand. The board showed 8♦ 5♦ 3♥ A♦ Q♥ and Kento Nasu bet a suspiciously small 5500 bet. This was enough to bait Brent Schlaadt into calling who then mucked upon seeing Nasu's 8♥ 8♣ set.

Four-way with each one investing 2000 for a pot of 8400 brings a flop of A♥ 2♣ 4♠ . Following two checks, Yao Liu bets 4000 and everyone folds for an easy pick up.

Three players are in for 2000 each for a pot of 6600 before the flop comes A♥ 8♥ 5♠ . From middle position, Daryl O'Rourke bets 2000 and only button Artem Kabanov joins to the turn T♠ . O'Rourke backs down and checks only to see Kabanov dip in and slide out just under half pot for 5000. O'Rourke folds while showing A♥ .

A battle of raises erupted preflop starting with 600 from button Mikhail Katkov. From small blind David Erquiaga three-bet 5x to 3000. Katkov checked his hand again then four-bet 8000. Erquiaga snap-jammed and still wasn't able to induce a fold, instead Katkov snap-called.

It was a flip with Katkov holding J♠ J♥ and Erquiaga with A♦ K♠ . The board ran out 5♠ 2♦ 6♥ 8♥ 6♠ . Erquiaga quickly got up and said it was just his second hand. We will likely see him re-enter.

Getting to Table 3 and we find Lu Zhou has already busted. The proud and happy executioner Justin Ong retold the tale of his win. Zhou opened for 600 and three players called. The flop was 3♥ 4♥ 3♣ , Zhou c-bet, got one caller then Ong raised, Zhou three-bet jammed and only Ong challenged with a covering stack.

Zhou had T♥ 6♥ flush draw, Ong with A♦ 3♠ . The turn and river were blanks.

The featured APPT Super High Roller event is now underway with 9 players out of the 32 entries hunting down the shard and the largest top prize so far of ₱5,070,000.
