60 minutesFLIGHT B OF APPT MANILA CHAMPIONSHIP IS UNDERWAY
Flight B of the APPT Manila Championship is now playing at the PokerStars Live poker room at Okada Manila. Dealers laid the cards on the felt at 12 noon with 11 one-hour levels to be played. So far 23 hopefuls made the PHP 165,000 (~US$ 2,850) buy-in to compete for a share of the PHP 55,000,000 (~US$ 960,850) guaranteed prize pool.
The weather report may be expecting a tropical storm, but that won't deter poker pros from around the world to seek their chance at winning one of the biggest main event pots in Philippine shores.
Some of the early registrants of Flight B include the likes of South Africa's Marc Anthony Joseph, who made a deep run on yesterday's Flight A, but caught a string of unlucky draws and missed the cut. Joseph was the champion of the NLH-Short Deck event at the U Series of Poker in Hai Phong, Vietnam last month. Joseph has nearly US$ 500K in total live earnings and a big win here should propel him past the half-million mark.
Rishi Mehra of Singapore is also back again from yesterday's disappointment. Mehra was the chip leader through most part of Flight A, but also ran into some unlucky moments. Hopefully, this time Mehra will be able to survive to Day 2. Mehra was a recent runner-up of the NLH APT High Roller 8 Max at the APT Taipei Poker Classic earlier this month, where he made his biggest cash of over US$ 100,000.
Andrej Nagy of Slovakia joins the field today, fresh from a 10th place finish in the PH15,000 NLH Mega Stack event of this series. Last month, Nagy also made an impressive runner-up finish in the NLH-Mystery Bounty event of the Manila Megastack 19 series.

FLIGHT B of APPT Manila Championship Takes Off at Noon Today

The first ever APPT Championship continues today, October 24, 2024, at Okada Manila. Action is set to start at 12 noon with a new set of poker hopefuls joining in on Flight B.
Yesterday, there were 165 entries who made the buy-in of PHP 165,000 (~US$ 2,850) to join Flight A of the APPT Manila Championship, which is guaranteeing a prize pool of at least PHP 55,000,000 (~US$ 960,850). After nearly 12 hours of poker and 11 levels played, only 59 players remained.
Lester Edoc of the Philippines stood out as the big chip leader with an overwhelming stack of 502,000. Edoc is the only one who made it to half a million in chips with Patrick Clarke further down at second with 355,000 and third-ranked John Edward Perry at 338,500.
Today, we are looking at more participants to take part in the action and hopefully breach the prize pool guarantee to an even bigger amount. So far, this is the largest buy-in ever put forth by PokerStars LIVE Manila for its main highlight.
Players will begin with a stack of 50,000, equivalent to 250 times the opening blinds. Blinds increase every 60 minutes for all Day 1 flights and for Day 2 . Day 1 flights play a total of 11 levels. Players have plenty of time to sign up with registration closing at the end of Level 12 (approx 13:15) in Day 2.
Flight B players still with chips at the end of Level 11 will join the 59 advancers from Flight A to compete again for Day 2 tomorrow.
Stay tuned to Somuchpoker as we update you on some of the action all day.
