Welcome to Day 3 of the U Series of Poker: Poker2U Taiwan Series! The ten-day live festival opened on February 10 at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) in Taipei City, Taiwan and runs through February 19. For those that missed the opening festivities, Taiwan’s Ching Wei Chen ‘Carter’ 陳靖惟 shipped the Kick Off event and fellow countryman Chung Yi Ho 何崇義 picked up a trophy at the evening’s Hyper Turbo.

Today’s highlight is the Mystery Bounty which features a rich TWD 3,000,000 (~$99,430) guarantee. This is one million more than the Kick Off event. Yesterday, Day 1A and Day 1B attracted a combined 249 entries with 26 players advancing to Day 2. Only two starters left on schedule, both will run today. Day 1A drew 146 entries with 15 players (12.5%) advancing to Day 2. Australia’s Anton Lu (pictured above) had a stellar day on the felt, delivering knockout after knockout that included Filipino pro David Erquiaga with pocket Fives beating pocket Threes. Lu bagged up an enormous 827,000 in chips, to close as heat leader.

Also through to the money round, though not with much, was Israel’s Ori Kossonogi who doubled up during the bubble round only to lose most of it to Taiwan’s Maggie Chien Chih Weng 翁芊智. It was a classic flip, Kossonogi AsKs, Weng QdQs, and the board 7sJhQc8h7c. The end of day came about when Malaysia’s Kar Hou Lim eliminated a player on the bubble with AcAh dominating JhJd. Lim bagged up the second largest stack of Day 1A.

Over at Day 1B, 106 took on the challenge and in six hours it wrapped up seeing Luke Kuang Hung Lee booted on the bubble with Ace-Queen over Ace-Jack. Racking up the largest was Malaysia’s Cheng Jing Lin 林成旌 with 548,000 in chips. Other notable survivors were Pot Limit Omaha specialistKristof Segersand one of Taiwan’s top pros, Pete Yen Han Chen 陳彥翰.

Chung Yi Ho 何崇義

One of Taiwan’s up and coming players, Chung Yi Ho 何崇義 outshined at the evening’s Hyper Turbo NLH. He bested a field of 137 entries to capture the trophy and TWD 100,400 (~$3,330). Last year, Ho ventured outside of Taiwan for the first time and had a lucrative Poker Dream High Roller, finishing 2nd at the High Roller for a whopping ~US$ 60,970, his first ever five figure score.
