Now let’s get on with the Day 3 recap.

WSOP #35: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship – Juha Helppi – $ 290,285.58

Running for nearly nine hours, the WSOP #35: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship ended with pro Juha Helppi seizing his second WSOP gold bracelet. Helppi is a legend in Finland; he is one of the country’s most decorated live tournament pros. Last year, Helppi won his first at the 2019 WSOP $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship (Event #72). To earn the next coveted accessory, Helppi overcame a field of 328 entries denying two WSOP winners alongside him at the final table – Jens Kyllonen and Yuri Dzivielevsk. Helppi shipped $ 290,285.58 for his victory.

With Hendon Mob stats dating back to 2001, Helppi’s long list of achievements in the live circuit has earned him nearly $ 8 million. Of that, over $ 1.4 million was from WSOP cashes. Combining in his latest score, Helppi has accrued over $ 1.7 million at the series. His largest live tournament payout to date was $ 399,261 for his 2nd place finish at the 2015 EPT Malta € 32,500 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller 8 Handed. We may yet see another title for Helppi as he currently holds the chip lead in the ongoing PLOSSUS event.

Before the final table was formed, Natural8 Team Hot Ambassador Thai Ha bumped the rail in 11th place with Canada’s Michael Watson holding the higher straight. WSOP ring winner Kazakhstan’s Shyngis Satubayev “somebodyelse” fell next to 2016 WSOP bracelet winner Jens Kyllonen, leaving nine players vying for the glory.

The final table ran for over two hours. First hand threw a wrench at Juha Helppi’s stack with Sergi Reixach on the opposite end banking the double up. Helppi quickly recovered, getting a full boost off Jens Kyllonen “98snaeJ”. 98snaeJ continued to attack the table resulting in the fall of Alex Di Felice “rubbherducky” (9th) then Marija Andrijasevic “Maj Chenzie” (8th). After Michael Watson finished off Sergi Reixach (7th), 98snaeJ claimed another victim, denying 2017 WSOP bracelet winner Yuri Dzivielevsk a second gold. Attempting to boot out a fourth player, 98snaeJ’s aces instead were cracked by the two paired Belarmino De Souza “Iseey0urcard”.

From here, the game slowed down with no called shoves for half an hour. 98snaeJ dropped down to a critical 8 bbs. Iseey0urcard was more fortunate, landing a second double up, this one off of Watson. Minutes later, Iseey0urcard went on to finish 98snaeJ in 5th place.

Next two matchups saw Watson double up Jesus Cortes then Helppi. Cortes used his new found chips to end Watson (4th) and Helppi did the same, eliminating Iseey0urcard in 3rd place. Heads up had Cortes up 7 bbs against Helppi. Cortes managed to widen the gap to over 3:1 however, Helppi grinded back to where they started then scored a crushing double up that brought Cortes down to under 8 bbs. Two shoves later, Helppi shipped the rest of Cortes’s stack to secure his second ever WSOP gold bracelet.
