A great time for live poker indeed, the renowned World Poker Tour closes 2023 with pride having booked several notable accomplishments throughout the year. Taking a look back, the WPT Prime Tour hosted 14 events across 12 countries and awarded a total of $22,734,998 in combined prizes. The astonishing feat resulted in 8 records broken and over half of its Main Event offerings surpassing 1,000-entry fields. With the introduction of eight new stops including WPT Prime Paris, WPT Prime Amsterdam, WPT Prime India, WPT Prime Slovakia, WPT Prime Sanremo, WPT Prime Aix-en-Provence, WPT Prime Liechtenstein, and a WPT Global event, the total entries collectively recorded the brand’s highest at a staggering 22,290 across 14 tournaments.

The Prime tours smashed through several records throughout the season with WPT Prime Taiwan being the largest across the Asian region. The festivities which ran last August 2023 at the Asia Poker Arena, served as a big hit amongst local and international runners with the festival prize pool awarding just shy of $4 million. The record breaking Main Event blew through WPT Prime Gold Coast’s 1,224-entry field target and set out new heights for the brand with a larger 1,359 attendance. By the end of the two week schedule, Korean runner Seonguk Huh emerged as the festival’s top winner with his Main Event victory earning him a career-best TWD 6,652,200 (~USD 208,340) payout.

Across the globe, WPT Prime similarly found promising success especially with its debut in Liechtenstein raking in an impressive 1,644 entries to top the yearly charts. The wealthy  $1,841,280 prize pool along with the crushing turnout, sets the record as the Largest WPT event in Europe to date. The peak of the 2023 season however, remains to be the brand’s flagship WPT Prime Championship which marks the tour’s all-time high at 10,512 entries. Each contributing the $1,100 buy-in, the season-ender prize pool swelled to double the $5 million guarantee and generated a pot of $10,196,640 to be awarded. The Las Vegas festivities capped the year having earned the title of the largest Prime prize pool in WPT history with Calvin Anderson outlasting the field to claim the $1,386,280 top prize.
