With two successful editions in the bag, World Poker Tour Prime in cooperation with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), is back for its third showing at the Asia Poker Arena, Taipei, Taiwan this August 6-19. The 14-day midstakes series, already past its halfway mark, is getting ready for its biggest event on schedule with only one day to go before the Championship Event kicks off. This year’s guarantee boasts a sky rocketing US$ 1,000,000 prize pool, similar to that of its last season offering, for a buy-in of TWD 35,000 (~USD 1,080).

The anticipated headliner rolls the red carpet this Friday, August 15th with its first flight on schedule set to hit the felt. Three starting heats complete the qualifying rounds, each geared to play down to ITM at approximately 12.5% of the field. 

With a starting stack of 40,000, equivalent to 200x the starting blinds, tournament runners will have to course through 40 minute blind levels and secure a spot into the Day 2 games. Day 2 on the other hand, sees an extended 60 minute duration per level and is due to conclude once the final table is reached. The Final Day on the festival’s concluding day, August 19th, will wrap up the Championship Event action, with a new WPT winner deemed to be crowned by night’s end. 1st place, likewise locks up an entry to the 2024 WPT World Championship valued at US$ 10,400, with accommodation included.

Last season’s WPT Prime Championship Event set a new local record for the tour with 1,359 entries recorded across three flights. The astounding turnout generated a TWD 39,546,900 ($1,237,387) prize pool, easily surpassing its seven figure (USD) listed guarantee. South Korea’s Seonguk Huh came out on top, and banked a career high payout of TWD 39,546,900 ($1,237,387) after defeating France’s Yannick Leonard in heads up play for the title.
