The WPT Korea 2024 festivities at Landing Casino, Jeju Shinhwa World, South Korea, has been running on full blast with the first seven days of its ten-day schedule already in the books. The headlining Championship Event stands to crown this season’s champion with today’s Day 3 welcoming its last 45 survivors. China’s Lu Yingjun is leading the charge, having bagged a sizeable 3,535,000 (88 BB) chip count onto the next round. This afternoon’s action will conclude once the final nine is set, resuming the following day for the final table gameplay.

The WPT Korea 2024 Championship Event games has wrapped up another ten levels of play and saw its massive 1,065 entry field draw down to 45 remaining players. The Day 2 games saw the money trickle in by early evening with 134 runners claiming a piece of the KR₩ 2,603,286,000 (~US$ 1,936,270) Main Event pot. Liu Zhexu exited as the money bubble, having shoved his last 16 big blinds in with 10d10c right into Terashima Tomoki’s AhAs. Eliminated one spot short of the money, all remaining players on the felt locked in a KR₩ 4,550,000 (~USD 3,380) minimum payout.

Crashing early were poker icons Daniel Smiljkovic (129th) and Stephen O’Dwyer (126th) with WSOP Main Event winner Espen Jorstad falling shortly behind in 75th place. On the other hand, bracelet winners Carlos Chang (37 BB) and Renji Mao (27 BB) found a bag by the end of the night, along with third in ranking, CTP owner Hsing Hsiung Tai (64 BB). A number of Asian crushers Po Wen Fang (55 BB), Xuming Qi (29 BB), and Chen Hao (30 BB) whose name is already engraved on the Mike Sexton Cup, join the list and remain in contention for this season’s Championship Event title.
