Poker Dream 7 Vietnam: Zhu Sheng Chao, Yeu Wei Hsiang, Foo Tuck Wai, Nguyen Quang Huy capture trophies

The first four days at Poker Dream 7 Vietnam at Hoiana Resort & Golf in Hoi An, Vietnam has witnessed substantial turnouts, not only at the festival’s marquee events but also at the exciting side tournaments. Here are the first four side winners and their rise to victory.

Zhu Sheng Chao wins the NLH Turbo

The first side event winner of the series was China’s Zhu Sheng Chao at the NLH Turbo. Zhu outlasted the 69 entry field to seize the ₫68,893,600 (~US$ 2,825) top prize. At three-handed, Zhu won a flip against Zhang Yang with Ac10h pairing the Ace against 2h2s. With the slight lead, Zhu eliminated Sun Kai Yi in 3rd place with 8c8s standing firm against Sun’s KcQd that bricked. This lead to heads up with both Zhang and Zhu about even in chips. 

The two were quickly all in, Zhu’s Ad2d improved to a higher two pair on the river against Zhang’s QhJs on a board 9dJc2hQsAc. Zhang was down to 1 bb and fell immediately after.

Yeu Wei Hsiang wins Short Deck

Malaysian pro Yeu Wei Hsiang captured his career third Poker Dream trophy at the festival’s first high roller event, Short Deck Ante Only. The event featured a ₫100 Million (~US$ 4,311) buy in with 12 entrants coughing it up. Yeu delivered the bubble by railing short stacked Yee Sew Key then went on to clean out Winfred Yu at heads up. The final hand saw a board complete Kc6c8d7c7s. Yu check-raised all in on the turn with Ah9c air, Yeu called and was ahead 7d8c which further improved to a victorious full house.

Malaysia’s Foo Tuck Wai became the happy owner of a Poker Dream trophy after outlasting the 72 runners of the Mystery Bounty Hunter. This was Foo’s first ever career win which earned him a payout of ₫54,696,000 (~US$ 2,243) plus numerous six bounty rewards to add to his wallet. For runner-up Raina Chakshu Deep, it was another impressive result. He now has three series cashes. This was his second final table with a 4th place finish at the Deepstack event.

Nguyen Quang Huy wins the Single Day High Roller

83 runners turned up for the Single Day High Roller for a handsome prize pool of VN 5,184,844,000 (~USD 213,061). Earning the lion’s share was well known local high roller Nguyen Quang Huy for a payout of ₫1,425,844,000 (~US$ 59,470).

Nguyen bulldozed through the final table. He eliminated Vietnam Open champion Phan Minh Duc in 5th place with 6s6c winning the flip against AhKd. Short Deck champion Yeu Wei Hsiang was next with 4c4s spiking the lucky two-outer to crack and burn Yeu’s AcAs. With a monstrous stack at his disposal, he quickly eliminated the last two players for his first ever Poker Dream title.
