Profile

Malaysian poker professional Joshua Tan Soo Tjan has been living his poker dream literally in the Poker Dream Tour. Tjan’s relatively young career has found most success in the new gaming events brand in the industry. Launched in 2022, the Poker Dream Tour provided Joshua Tan Soo Tjan a venue to make his mark in live felt action. In the relatively short time and lean number of tournaments played, he has already surpassed $200,000 in total career earnings.

Joshua Tan Soo Tjan’s first recorded tournament in July 2019, already saw him finish in the money by making the final table of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Manila – Kick Off Event for a significant cash of $ 14,416. Tjan also made final table of the SuperDeep Freezout Event. But the Malaysian played only 2 more live tournaments before putting his poker career on hold from the years 2020-2021. He would return to live action play in 2022, at the launch of the new Poker Dream Tour.

In Joshua Tan Soo Tjan’s first outing after a 2-year hiatus, it was like he never left. Tjan relaunched his career in the inaugural Poker Dream Malaysia 2022 held in Kuala Lumpur. He first made a second-place finish at the NLH-Megastack Event for $ 19,615 before taking his first live poker title as the Main Event champion for a career best cash to date of $ 122,511. Tjan would have the distinction of being the brand’s first-ever Main Event winner. Surprisingly though, this would be the only tournament he would play in 2022.

In January 2023, Joshua Tan Soo Tjan returned to the Poker Dream Malaysia 2023, Kuala Lumpur to defend his Main Event title. He unfortunately only made a final table finish, landing at 8th place for a $ 12,785 score. Hong Kong pro Devan Tang won the event. Tjan then made another deep run at the Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour Taipei to bank $ 26,762. His next good run came in May 2024 with 2 runner-up finishes at the Turbo and NLH-Hyper Turbo Events of the Asian Poker Tour Jeju for a combined prize money of over $7,000. In August, Joshua Tan Soo Tjan continued his success at the Poker Dream Tour, taking the Mini Main Event of Poker Dream 11 Malaysia for a payout of $17,760.
