The 19th running of PokerStars LIVE’s Manila Super Series Main Event at Okada Manila, Philippines has come down to its final day of festivities following four days of thrilling action. A total of 649 entries turned up on the felt and built up the prize pool to a smashing PHP 11,079,728 (~USD 200,000). Only 95 runners returned yesterday to cut a piece of pie and saw the field draw down to its final nine led by local runner Alfredo Boligor. The chunk of the pot stands to be awarded today with the top prize listing a sweet PHP 2,200,000 (~USD 39K) for the champion.

This Sunday, January 7th will see the final table come into play beginning at 13:00 with a winner crowned by the end of the day. On the schedule as well are side events: Mystery Bounty, Super Series High Roller, Six Handed Turbo, Six Plus Holdem Turbo, and the final day of the Super Series Turbo.

Main Event Day 2 Recap

The start of Day 2 welcomed 95 players back on the tables and saw elimination after elimination pile in right off the bat. By the first break, over 40 busts were already recorded with Flight B chip leader Czardy Rivera stacking the highest across the remaining field. It wasn’t until Philippines’ Mar David Rene surged to the top after bagging a massive three way all-in with a set. Rene completed from the big blind with 6h6c and flopped the world on 10d5s6s against Jayvon Carreon’s As10h and John Dela Cruz’s AdAc. Rene shipped the 136 BB pot and stacked just above Rivera by midday.

Action eventually witnessed the field play down to its last three tables with the final nine starting to take shape. Seasoned champions Joemark Vasay, William Ysmael, and Renniel Galvez were still included in the mix along with tough contenders Kim Michael Enriquez, Emmanuel Segismundo, Bonifacio Mondalo, and Day 2 chip leader Lenart Ecarma. Ecarma fought a long battle but eventually succumbed in 15th place having lost a flip to Ong Kang Rui Ryan. One by one, short stacks began to falter leading to Cezar Quiambao’s elimination as the final table bubble.

Quiambao was seen active across several pots, making big plays, pulling bluffs and tabling impressive hero calls. However after a few missed attempts, the young amateur chipped down to his last 10 big blinds and shoved with Ad7d from the button. Ivan Dela Cruz held a better AhJh and knocked Quiambao out to wrap up the games.

The final nine is set with local runner Alfredo Boligor in the lead, having bagged a 4,080,000 (52 BB) chip count to start the final games. Boligor maintained his big stack by playing preflop aggressively and being more modest postflop in crucial spots. By the last level, Boligor took down a few more pots to inch over the field and cap the night as the Main Event Final Table chip leader.
