Another packed house at the inaugural WPTDeepStacks Hanoi as everyone came out to take part in the last two starting heats of the highlighted Main Event. Well known local and international players were among the attendees such as Cao Ngoc Anh, Đinh Xuân Dinh, Nguyễn Hoàng Bách, William Kang, Andre Lettau, and Warm Up Event champion Pham Ngoc Quoc Bao. In the aftermath, the Main Event drew a combined 378 entries across four starting days to crush the advertised guarantee to bits in exchange for a much richer VNđ 7,333,200,000 (~US$ 318,086) prize pool.

Main Event recap

The Main Event kicked off on first gear with only 22 showing up for Day 1A. It picked up pace on Day 1B with 86 entries added to the pool. On the third day, the event was at full throttle with 190 entries for Day 1C and another 80 turning up for Day 1D. This brought the overall total to 378 entries.

The next stage of the race takes place on Saturday, April 24 at 11am (local time) with Day 2 qualifiers returning to Crown Poker Club to hunt down the money and a Final Table seat. Blinds increase at a slower 60 minute pace.

Leading them in is Day 1C chip leader Nguyễn Lê Quang who has been running red hot at the series with a victory at the Pot Limit Omaha and 8th at the Bounty Event. He carries in a stack equivalent to 97 big blinds. Among the top 10 is Julien Tran with 67 big blinds and Nguyễn Đuy Vũ “Emit” who took third at the Super High Roller. Taking a look at the opposite end, among those with a mountain to climb is short stacked Harry Duong who enters with barely 7 big blinds. Another is Phạm Ngọc Quốc Bảo with 14 big blinds.

The payouts have also been calculated. Money begins at 48th place with a minimum cash of VNđ 35,500,000 (~US$ 1,540). The highest payout of Day 2 is 10th place at VNđ 128,000,000 (~US$ 5,552). Day 2 ends once the final 9 players have been determined. When action returns on the final day, the players will be guaranteed VNđ 152,800,000 (~US$ 6,628) however the chase will be for the handsome VNđ 1,527,000,000 (~US$ 66,235) first prize and the iconic WPTDS Hanoi Main Event Trophy.

Other events

As the festival enters the penultimate day, Main Event Day 2 will be joined by the only freezeout tournament in the lineup, the Crown Poker Club Superstack Classic. This is a two day event. For a buy in of VNđ 6,000,000 (~US$ 260), players receive a deep 50,000 stack which is 500 times the opening blinds. Blinds increase every 30 minutes. Registration closes at the start of Level 12.

Also joining on the floor is the High Roller 2 Day Event. This is the second to the last event extending a guarantee. Registration is open until 220pm on Day 2.
