World Poker Tour opens 2024 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia featuring $1M guaranteed WPT Cambodia Championship
The World Poker Tour (WPT) makes history as it opens its 2024 season at the posh NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Somuchpokerlooks into the key events that could pique the interests of poker aficionados across the region.
WPT Cambodia will be the first time the Main Tour makes a stop in Southeast Asia, acknowledging the epicenter of the game’s rebirth in poker’s post-pandemic chapter.
“NagaWorld has been an excellent partner for us in recent years, hosting record-breaking WPT Prime events in each of the last two seasons,” WPT CEO Adam Pliska said in an interview. “It is a venue well fit for our first-ever Main Tour festival in Southeast Asia.”
44 events are slated in the renowned entity’s initial salvo for the upcoming year and will be held from January 17-30, 2024. It is important to note that all players must obtain their NagaWorld membership card at the time of registration for any event.

WPT Cambodia Championship
Date: January 25 to 29, 2024
Buy-in: US$ 3,500
Guarantee: US$ 1,000,000
Starting stack: 50,000 (250x opening big blind)
Levels: 60 minutes
Players will now have the chance to experience the true spirit of the Main Tour and its amazing structure that allows for optimal play for the same guaranteed prize pool as when it is run in the Western Hemisphere.
There are only two Day 1s (Day 1A is on Thursday, January 25 while Day 1B is on Friday, January 26) so the competition will be fierce. However, unlimited re-entries are allowed and registration for the Day 1s close at the end of Level 10’s break.
Numerous Milestone Satellites will also be spread across the calendar from the opening week, so aspirants may work their way up to seats via this process.

The inaugural WPT Cambodia Championship will see the winner’s name forever etched in history on the iconic Mike Sexton Champion’s Cup, named after the late, great WPT TV broadcaster.
High Rollers
The schedule also offers eight events for the deep-pocketed. The most anticipated events will be Super High Roller, the 10K Single Day Challenge (most expensive event in the lineup), and the WPT Cambodia High Rollers event which carries a guaranteed prize pool of US$ 200,000.

Currency
The country’s currency is the Cambodian Riel, however theUS Dollaris widely accepted. In fact, USD is more accepted than the Riel. At the festival, USD will be usedfor both tournaments and cash games. Exchange counters are available at the hotel lobby.
