Wei Guo Liang wins Tencent Poker Tour (TPT) Main Event for 2M RMB
Tencent, owners of WeChat and QQ Messenger App, recently held its Tencent Poker Tour (TPT) 2016 and it proved to be a huge success.
A total of 482 entries participated in the Main Event, most of whom qualified through satellites in the online mobile platform, Tencent Poker. The total guaranteed prize pool was 10,000,000 RMB (approx. US$1.44 Million) with 2,000,000RMB (approx. US$280,000) going to first place. Of the 482 players, 150 were rewarded Tencent game credits while the top 75 players received cash prizes.
Prominent international players attended the event, Terry Fan, Maria Ho, Poker King Club President Winfred Yu and Kenneth Wong. Most important participants were none other than WSOP Champions Chris Moneymaker and Jonathan Duhamel.

Despite the star-studded field, one man was left standing. Wei Guo Liang from Hubei China triumphed over all winning 2,000,000 RMB, a gold bracelet worth 300,000RMB, a custom-made “lucky” watch from Romain Gauthier worth 160,000 RMB and Tencent game credits.
Liang has been playing the Asian circuits since 2013. His biggest cash before the TPT event was his 9th place finish at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) 2015 Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) Main Event for over US$77,000.
