USOP: Poker2U Taiwan Series: Opening ceremony at Main Event Day 1A; Yu You Ci Tsai 蔡余有騏 tops 33 survivors
Staging its first ever live festival, the U Series of Poker, in partnership with Poker2U and the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), officially opened the games at Day 1A of the Main Event. Welcome speeches were given by CTP owner David Tai, UPoker COO Tse Ian Lee, and USOP’s Alex Wong, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. Lee shared,
“We are delighted to have players fly in from all over the world… so many of you! We are all gathered here with the same purpose and same interest with the same passion. So let us keep up with what we believe in making poker a bigger and better mind sport. I wish every one of you the best of luck and a memorable experience throughout the series. May the flop, turn, and river be with you.”
With that, the Main Event resumed with registration still open for Day 1A. Several notables in the field were 2020 WSOP Online bracelet winner Paul Teoh, Thailand’s Thananat Therdtakoonrat, Taiwan’s Zong Chi He, Pete Yen Han Chen,and Nevan Yu Chung Chang.
Registration closed at an impressive 261 entries, which covers over half of the guarantee. With many international players making their way to the Main Event, the likelihood of crushing the guarantee at Day 1B is high.
Day 1A wrapped up when Tak Yan delivered the bubble with dominating . Topping the 33 survivors was Yu You Ci Tsai 蔡余有騏who was one of the day’s early casualties, seen busting out in the first level, then returned with renewed might. Tsai held the chip lead for the last seven levels, closing with 484,000 (60 BB).
At his heels were Mystery Bounty finalists – 9th placer Kar Hou Lin 林嘉浩 with 468,000 (58 BB) and champion Kuan Han Chen 陳冠翰 with 452,000 (56 BB). Main Event – Day 1B up next
The Main Event kicked off on February 15 the CTP Club in Taipei City and will run through February 19. For an affordable price of just TWD 20,000 (~$660), players have a chance at a whopping TWD 10 Million (~$330,00) prize pool. Day 1B is up next. Cards in the air at 1pm on Thursday, February 16. Starting stack is 30,000 (300x the starting blinds). Blinds go up every 40 minutes. Registration closes at the start of Level 10, by 7:30pm. Players can expect an exciting Day 1B as the guarantee has the potential to be breached today.
