The inaugural USOP: Poker2U Taiwan Series underway at host venue Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association. has been packed to the hilt since kick off and it will only get bigger with plenty of events yet to be tabled. Today marks the halfway point. Nine events have already been conquered. The latest winners were Hon Cheong Lee, Joey Tzu Yuan Fu 傅子袁, Isaac Chern Chze, Cheng Chieh Huang 黃政傑, and Ching Chia Wang 王淨加. Trophy seekers will be thrilled at today’s Valentine’s Day lineup as it offers four unique events with buy ins from TWD 5,000 (~$165) to TWD 66,000 (~$1,200). If you are looking to play your way into the upcoming festival highlight – which starts tomorrow – the first of three Main Event Satellites will also be running. Here’s a look at the schedule.
Breaking it down, cards start flying at 1pm with the 7-Max Shot Clock. This type of event keeps everyone on their toes as players only have a limited 30-seconds to act. However, that can be extended with time banks. Players are given four 30-second time banks plus an additional two for those that reach the final table. Starting stack is 25,000, blinds go up every 25 minutes, registration closes at the start of Level 9. Buy in is TWD 18,000 (~$600).
For players with bigger bankrolls, today’s games include the High Roller TWD 3,000,000 (~$99,300) guaranteed. As seen at yesterday’s Mini HR, international players and locals have already made their way for some early practice. You can expect last night’s champion Hong Kong’s Hon Cheong Lee, Taiwan’s Pete Yen Han Chen, Canada’s Niroshan Loganathan , and 2022 GPI National Philippines winner David Erquiaga in attendance. Players start with a deep 60,000 stack (150 BB) with blinds increasing at a steady 40 minute pace. Day 1 bags up at the end of Level 10, late registration closes in Day 2 at the start of Level 11. Buy in is TWD 66,000 (~$2,185). Cards in the air at 3pm.
Pot Limit Omaha enthusiasts are also covered in today’s festivities with the PLO KO Bounty taking place at 4pm. Buy in is TWD 12,000 (~$400).
At 6pm the festival brings you the Ladies Event! For all the ladies that love poker, come on over and take on the challenge. Be the first one to win this exclusive title! As bonus, TWO TROPHIES will be awarded to the champion which can be given as a gift to that special someone this Valentine’s Day. Buy in is TWD 5,000 (~$165) for ladies and a pricier TWD 10,000 (~$330) for the gents.
Also taking place is the exciting conclusion of the Mystery Bounty with six players returning to try to draw the TWD 500,000 top prize from the treasure chest. Five players are guaranteed a minimum TWD 100,000, Kuan Han Chen 陳冠翰 is guaranteed TWD 200,000 for his two draws.
