Tom Dwan named Triton Ambassador, Jungleman reminds him to pay his debt
Triton has announced Tom “durrrr” Dwan as their latest brand ambassador. Dwan has been a supporter of the Triton Series from the start and it has served the poker community as a window into Dwan’s otherwise illusive and legendary poker life.
Tom Dwan is the second big name to join as a Triton ambassador. His team mate is none other than Jason Koon.
“I’m thrilled to be in the company of Tom Dwan as a Triton Ambassador,” said Koon.
“When I began my journey as a poker player Tom was already crushing the biggest games in the world. When the poker action started booming in Asia Tom was one of the first to dive into the action. He’s one of the most exciting players to watch, and play against, and I can’t think of a better addition to the Triton roster.”
Dwan will represent the brand for the first time during the Triton Poker Series in Montenegro 5th to 17th May.
Jungleman reminds Dwan about unfinished business
Unfortunately at the same time there is once again drama around Tom Dwan and his unfinished challenge with Daniel “Jungleman” Cates.
The legendary “Durrrr Challenge” was started in 2010 and came to an abrupt halt in 2011 when Black Friday hit. Dwan and Cates were only 20,000 hands into a 50,000 hands challenge with Dwan being down over $1.2 million. If he had lost the challenge he would have owed Jungleman another $1.5 million on top. But the game was never completed and Cates is since then calling Dwan out to finish the challenge or pay up.
Here is an attempt from 2018 to ignite the challenge and Dwan did not bite:
@TomDwan Hey, haven’t heard from you in a while. Don’t you think it’s time to give everyone an update on the durrr challenge, started in 2010?

The latest uproar from Cates’ side is around Dwan’s bragging on how he had skillfully tricked Jungleman to miss props during a recent Triton Poker high stakes game. The rule with playing props is that the player has to call it in order to get paid. Dwan bragged about how he distracted Cates during hands to not have to pay up.
Joey Ingram summarises in a tweet:
Dwan told a story about distracting @junglemandan while playing props & how he always misses his props on the latest @tritonpoker episode.
He also told a story about @barrygreenstein calling his props during a ROBBERY lol, need to ask Barry about that next time he is on the pod pic.twitter.com/KRihbMN5JW

Daniel Cates is obviously upset about this and responded in a mildly worded tweet himself, once again reminding Dwan of the unfinished challenge:
Well seeing something about @TomDwan bragging about how he ‘cleverly’ and ‘fairly’ tricked me is a bit annoying considering how he begged me to play props back then and our current misunderstandings involving me being owed over a million dollars.

If this feud will ever come to a resolution will have to be seen. In the meantime the poker world keeps being entertained by these high stakes poker legends.
